February 21st – Bauman’s Cider Co., is pleased to announce the appointment of owner Christine Walter to the board of the American Cider Association. The American Cider Association is an organization with a mission to help grow a diverse and successful U.S. cider industry by providing valuable resources and services to their members and by advocating on their behalf.
Bauman’s Cider Co. is an internationally award winning cidery founded in 2016 by Walter on her family’s century-old farm in Gervais, OR. She had this to say about her election to the board:
“I ran for this board position for many reasons: I’m passionate about the cider industry in America. I love cider people, I love the strong community among the makers, and I love advancing our beloved beverage. In addition, the ACA is doing some incredibly important work with regards to diversity, equity and inclusion and I want to help continue this charge. As a female cider maker/business owner, I hope that I can be an example to anyone who hasn’t always felt that a door was open to them. Being in an industry where every person feels like they can come and participate, as well as ask for help and receive it with kindness, is worth putting in our efforts.
I can’t wait to serve the community and industry on the ACA board, and I welcome ideas about how we can do better and be better.”

About Bauman’s Cider
Christine’s foray into cider making began after she learned that her great-grandfather Stephen was known locally for making cider on their farm for friends and family. She approached her new endeavor with intentions any purist would be envious of, using only fruit grown and harvested on their farm. Today, her ciders are still made with this ethos in mind whenever possible.
With product lines range from accessible favorites like Loganberry, Clyde’s Dry, and Peach Raspberry, complex and nuanced single varietal ciders like McIntosh, Mountain Rose, and Muscadet de Dieppe, and a unique cocktail-inspired line of ciders, Bauman’s continues to attract new consumers to their unique and approachable products.
In addition to winning several best in class awards at the prestigious 2021 Great Lakes International Cider & Perry Competition (GLINTCAP), Christine and her team were recognized as the Small Cidermaker of the Year. They were also recognized at the 2021 Portland International Cider Cup as the Northwest Medium Cidery of the Year.
