(Verona, IT; December 15, 2021) —Azienda Agricola Inama and its third-generation leaders Alessio, Luca and Matteo Inama, are excited to announce the US market release of the 2019 “I Palchi” Grand Cuvée Soave Classico DOC.  Already a top producer of Soave Classico and Colli Berici wines, the winery is pushing the boundaries of viticulture and winemaking in the Veneto and setting benchmarks for white wines in Italy. The launch of “I Palchi” is a certain milestone for the Soave region, and a testament to Inama as a driving force of quality in the region.

The wine, made with only the most pristine fruit sourced from carefully selected micro-parcels on the volcanic slopes of the dormant Monte Foscarino volcano, represents the culmination of over 50 years and three generations’ worth of research and devotion to the Garganega grape and the possibilities of the variety.  “I Palchi” in the local dialect is a geographical term that refers to the terraces of the mountainside, where old pergolas of Garganega vines grow.

“Garganega is an ancient grape that was first introduced to the Veneto region over 2000 years ago by the Romans, who loved the elegant, mineral and floral wines made from the grape,” says Matteo Inama, who oversees winemaking at Inama. “We vinified a specific selection of only our most outstanding fruit, which immediately revealed itself as a unique wine. I Palchi is refined and elegant, with a persistent minerality and complexity that can only be found in the highest quality wines from volcanic soils.”

The I Palchi label depicts an Enlightenment-era scientific diagram of a lunar eclipse, originally published in a British periodical in 1764. “While fairly rare, a lunar eclipse can be admired by the naked eye,” says Alessio Inama, who oversaw the label design and is the director of sales, marketing and communications at Inama. “This represents curiosity, the spirit of research, and the pursuit of knowledge that leads to a greater understanding of the world around us.”

500 cases of 2019 Inama “I Palchi” Grand (SRP $62) were produced, and a very limited number of bottles will arrive stateside this fall through Inama’s US agent, Dalla Terra Winery Direct.

About Azienda Agricola Inama

Azienda Agricola Inama has been producing category-defining wines in the Veneto region of Italy for over half a century. In the 1960s, founder and visionary Giuseppe Inama identified the great potential of the volcanic terroir of the Soave region and began buying parcels of land on and around Mount Foscarino. Stefano, Giuseppe’s son, first took the helm as winemaker in 1992 and worked tirelessly to push the boundaries of Soave’s quality and reputation through both a respect for tradition and with a passion for experimentation.  Together with his sons and current third generation leaders, Alessio, Luca and Matteo, they have focused intensely on their vineyards over the last decade and have worked with some of the top vineyard management consultants in the world to elevate, not only the quality of the fruit they grow, but also their understanding of their land and its potential.

In addition to working with Garganega, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, Inama also grows traditional Bordeaux varietals in the historic, largely undiscovered zone of Colli Berici – Italy’s oldest DOC for Cabernet and Merlot grapes and where Inama owns the largest planting of Carmenere grapes in all of Europe. Cultivation of these varieties has taken place in the Colli Berici region for more than 150 years.
