New Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Initiative will invest in the Education and Growth of the Next Generation of Wine Professionals

October 28th – NEW YORK – Frederick Wildman and Sons announced today, two new programs to make industry education and training more accessible to the next generation of wine & spirits professionals. The Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) Scholarship and inaugural winter internship program are part of Frederick Wildman’s new Diversity, Equity and Inclusion efforts that will help equip individuals from all backgrounds with tools to thrive within the wine industry and bring a fresh perspective to the rapidly growing wines & spirits importer. Both programs are a part of the company’s ongoing effort to spread the enjoyment of life experiences through the discovery of wine and spirits while embracing diversity, equity, and inclusion through people.

As part of the new scholarship program, six WSET scholarships will be awarded in 2022. These will provide access to more educational opportunities that will ultimately support professional development across the industry. Recipients will receive course and testing tuition and will be paired with a Frederick Wildman and Sons mentor to provide support throughout the process. Applications will be accepted until December 15, 2021, and recipients will be announced in January 2022.

The new internship program will award two winter internships for a three-week period in January 2022. Interns will expand their knowledge, skills and experience in the alcohol beverage industry through assignments and educational opportunities, while gaining contacts and mentorship to help launch their career. Applications will be accepted until December 1, 2021, and the program will take place from January 3, 2022, through January 21, 2022.

“We are thrilled to continue expanding our DE&I efforts through the WSET scholarship and Frederick Wildman winter internship,” said Marc Hirten, President & COO of Frederick Wildman and Sons. “These new programs will have a profoundly positive impact on educating future wine professionals as well as mentoring the burgeoning talent in the industry.
