Iconic Irpinia Producer Reinforces US Presence with a Fully Integrated Communications Program

New York, NY, October 12th, 2021 – The Italian winery Donnachiara, producer of Campania’s renowned region Irpinia’s wines has announced that Colangelo & Partners, a fine wine, spirits, and food-focused integrated communications agency, will be its agency of record to develop and execute a comprehensive communications strategy targeted to key media, trade and consumers. The partnership will engage new and current consumers through strategic media relations and events. The campaign will grow and leverage Donnachiara’s brand awareness in the US market, which continues to present new opportunities.

Donnachiara, located in the province of Avellino, very close to Montefalcione, produces Irpinia’s DOCG wines, i.e. Fiano di Avellino, Taurasi and Greco di Tufo, as well as the traditional Aglianico and Falanghina wines. Such production follows a tradition that has been pursued by the Petitto family,  who founded the company in 2005, and remains operational still today.

Donnachiara is a modern winery that boasts vineyards dating back to the 1900s and is led by an almost all female management team, including the current CEO Ilaria Petitto, who has committed herself to the art of winemaking and following a family tradition that would have been, otherwise, lost. Ilaria is supported by her mother Chiara, the niece of Donna Chiara Mazzarelli Petitto, to whom the winery’s name is dedicated.

Donnachiara benefits from the expert guide of oenologist Riccardo Cotarella, among  the most well-known and respected in Italy. Thanks to his long-standing experience, great professionalism, wide knowledge of the territory and ability to interpret it, he has brought Donnachiara wines to even higher quality.

“It’s an honor for me to work with Donnachiara’s team. Over the course of my life, I’ve always prioritized the human aspect of the people I work with, and in the Petitto family, I immediately found a lot of passion, ambition and determination, which made me excited to  work with the winery and help the team achieve the results they deserve.” says Riccardo Cotarella.

CEO Ilaria Petitto states “We are proud of the hard work and incredible results we have achieved thanks to Riccardo Cottarella’s guide, and we are now thrilled to announce our partnership with Colangelo & Partners to strengthen our presence in the United States. She continues, “The US is a growing and important market for Irpinia wines and we are ready to continue our commitment to communications and expanding distribution.”

“We’re honored to be adding this historic company with its high-quality wines to our Italian portfolio,” comments Colangelo & Partners’ President Gino Colangelo.  “We look forward to helping build the Donnachiara brand and supporting Ilaria and the Petitto family with their US business.”
