New York, NY – October 11, 2021 – Hispanics in Wine, a social organization, is proud to announce the full schedule of events of the first-ever “LatinX State of the Wine Industry” Virtual Summit, taking place October 13, 2021. Presented in collaboration with Uncorked and Cultured and hosted by Gabriela Fernandez of The Big Sip, the one-day industry summit serves as an educational vehicle to share the impact of the Hispanic and LatinX contributions to the wine industry and amplify leaders ensuring inclusion in one of the world’s oldest industries.

From trade professionals to press and wine-loving consumers, attendees will get a chance to network with each other, as well as event sponsors and community partners, who will be promoting special offers, opportunities, and initiatives. “We are incredibly grateful for the overwhelming support we’ve received from the industry, especially our trusted event sponsors and community partners, who have been by our side since the start,” says Lydia Richards and Maria Calvert, co-Founders of Hispanics in Wine. “We are counting the days for our inaugural event, where we will showcase the incredible talent and power of our beloved community, and look forward to this event becoming a regular staple in our industry.”
Main event sponsors include Napa Valley Vintners; a nonprofit trade association focused on inspiring its 550 members to consistently produce wines of the highest quality, provide environmental leadership, and champion diversity and inclusivity in its community and the wine industry; Sippd, an innovative wine app launched in early 2021 using artificial intelligence to learn user’s unique taste preferences and provide consumers with personalized wine scores to 40,000+ wines online and at restaurants; and SevenFifty, an online marketplace and communications platform that helps importers, producers, distributors, and retail buyers connect with each other and do business in a modern world.
The summit’s community partners, a group of like-minded organizations focused on diversity and inclusion efforts within the industry, include Lift Collective, a multi-channel platform for all people, promoting advocacy and innovation through mentorship, professional development opportunities, and a corresponding annual conference; The Roots Fund, a non-profit organization focused on securing the pathway for communities of color in wine by providing resources and financial support through educational scholarships, wine education, mentorship, and job placement; and Black/Brown, the world’s first strategic advisory and diverse impact content studio driving business growth at the intersection of digital, diversity & youth.

About Gabriela Fernandez
“The Big Sip” is an audio-podcasting series hosted through Wine Down Media’s KVON 1440AM radio that spills knowledge on “sip” that matters, by highlighting and amplifying black and brown trailblazers breaking barriers in the food, wine, and arts industry. Each show provides listeners with an opportunity to learn about diverse leaders, trailblazers, and risk-takers pioneering a more equitable and inclusive world by centering a wine-full and mindful conversation around their experiences, challenges, achievements, and efforts to address the lack of diversity and inclusion throughout industries that have historically and systemically capitalized on their labor without equal representation.
