Barton & Guestier Introduces Alcohol Removed Sparkling Wine

Company Taps 300 Years of Winemaking Innovation For New Product

July 12, 2021 – Miami, FL – Barton & Guestier introduces to the U.S. market a new no alcohol wine, the Barton & Guestier Alcohol Removed Sparkling Wine (SRP $14.99). This new entrant to a fast-growing new category is emblematic of Barton & Guestier’s history of innovation and leadership in the French wine industry.

With the introduction of the Barton & Guestier Alcohol Removed Sparkling Wine, B&G is entering the fast growing low/no alcohol wine category in the United States market. Wine & Spirits Daily notes growth for this category in the “double-digits year-over-year.” (Wine & Spirits Daily, April 20, 2021) Additionally, IWSR expects the category to grow 50% in volume and value through 2024. This growth is driven both by health and wellness concerns from consumers and innovation in the space yielding an influx of new products. Seeing this opportunity, Barton & Guestier called on its depth of winemaking expertise to develop the highest quality no alcohol product to offer.

“It was important for B&G to complete its portfolio with this non-alcohol sparkling wine, to offer a high-quality, festive drink for people to enjoy in professional environments, family events, and anyone with health concerns,” said Carlos Varela, COO of BGPL USA. “That way, everyone can raise their wine glass.”

Production of the Barton & Guestier Alcohol Removed Sparkling Wine begins with traditional, high quality winemaking processes, utilizing the finest Muscat grapes from the Mediterranean coast. After the grapes are crushed, they undergo a cold soak, pre-fermentation maceration to extract the maximum flavors and aromas from the skins to the juice. Then a low-temperature fermentation takes place (60°F) to preserve the aromas. A ‘reverse osmosis’ process is utilized to remove the alcohol from the finished wine. Through this process, the aroma compounds are filtered out and preserved before the alcohol is removed by distillation.  Since all the aromatic and nutritive components are not exposed to the heat and turbulence caused by the distillation, this method allows for the wines’ integrity to remain intact, maintaining the original wine bouquet, character, color, and flavors. Animal-derived products are not used in the process, making it a Vegan-friendly wine. No additional sugars or juice are added, and the effervescence is adjusted before bottling for maximum pleasure.

Barton & Guestier Alcohol Removed Sparkling wine is already available at Total Wine & More, Binny’s (IL), Yankee Spirits (MA) and selected independent retail locations.
