April 29th – New York, NY—Just weeks after asking readers to submit photos of their dogs, Wine Spectator—which dedicated its March issue to the dogs of California Wine Country—is celebrating a special milestone: 1,000 dog photo submissions from wine lovers around the world. The canines can be viewed at WineSpectator.com/Dogs, while their human companions can still submit photos at WineSpectator.com/DogPhotos
“You don’t really understand the true meaning of ‘unconditional love’ until you have a pet. For me, that means a dog—and, from this initiative, I’ve learned that many of our readers feel the same way,” said Marvin R. Shanken, editor and publisher of Wine Spectator, who, in the Dogs of California Wine Country issue, asked readers to consider adopting a pet. “We are proud to spread the joy of these 1,000 dogs, and look forward to sharing 1,000 more.”
Details on the dog submissions:
- Countries: Over 20 countries are represented, from the US, Mexico, Italy, Spain and Portugal to Brazil, Australia, New Zealand and the Philippines.
- Names: The most commonly submitted name is Cooper, followed by Charlie and Daisy.
- Pandemic Puppies: More than 100 of the submitted dogs are less than a year old.
- Notable Winery Dogs: Among the submitted canines are winery dog influencers Lord Sandwich (@sandwichthedoodle, 72.9K Instagram followers) and Jasper Pedroncelli aka #JasperWineDog (@
