“LA ROMANÉE MEMORIES,” 1862 – 2005, The ultimate collection from the Bouchard Père & Fils historic cellars

Geneva, April 1, 2021 – Baghera/wines is pleased to announce a unique collaboration with fine watchmaking Maison, De Bethune. DB27 La Romanée 1865 by De Bethune is a unique timepiece on which the dial bears a map of the sky on September 12th 1865. The lot will be auctioned at the upcoming Baghera/wines “La Romanée Memories” sale, to be held on April 18th 2021 at the Beau-Rivage Geneva. Part of the proceeds will be donated to the “Climats de Bourgogne”.

La Romanée 1865 – a timepiece for history. De Bethune, an active member of the 1865 Club by Baghera/wines, has made its expertise available and worked to create a genuine partnership for the creation of a unique timepiece, linking two worlds of exceptional expertise: fine watchmaking and wine culture.

The DB27 “La Romanée 1865” timepiece is a one-of-a-kind model. The burgundy dial, on which a multitude of small white gold pins have been delicately inserted one by one, represents the constellation that was overlooking the climate of “La Romanée” on the grape-harvest day of September 12th 1865. An exceptional vintage that made its mark on the world’s oenological history.

1865 also has powerful connotations for Baghera/wines, which chose this date to recall the year of Rudyard Kipling’s birth and the founding of Beau-Rivage Geneva. The caseback of the watch bears a summary of the technical innovations achieved by De Bethune, as well as the inscription “La Romanée 1865”. This exclusive timepiece is equipped with the AUTO V2 mechanical self-winding calibre and comes with a Burgundy-coloured canvas strap.

The buyer will also receive a visit to the Manufacture De Bethune, followed by a lunch with Michael Ganne, CEO Baghera /wines and Pierre Jacques, CEO De Bethune, as well as a tasting of some excellent vintages.

Baghera/wines emphasises that the lots offered in the La Romanée Memories 1862 – 2005 sale include a huge vertical range of wines owned by the prestigious Maison Bouchard Père & Fils, which spans more than a century and a half of bringing the prestigious wine to the fore. In total, nearly 2,000 bottles of Romanée Grand Cru will be presented at this historic sale. The bottles, which are in a state of near-perfect preservation, come from the ancestral cellars of Bouchard Père & Fils, one of the distinguished winemakers in Burgundy, and in business for nearly three centuries.

With the benefit of a totally secure online auction registration system, Baghera/wines is poised to welcome enthusiastic international bidders.
