Ekos helps wineries track inventory, wine production and sales data in a single system

DOBSON, N.C. (March 22, 2021) – Shelton Vineyards, a family-owned vineyard that produces 20,000 cases annually, recently implemented Ekos to help manage all aspects of the business from wine production and inventory management to retail, online and restaurant sales. Ekos provides a comprehensive winery management software that helps winemakers and business owners streamline processes, save time and discover valuable insights.

“Ekos fills a niche that doesn’t currently exist in the wine industry by providing excellent wine production software combined with business management software,” said Mandy Shelton Houser, co-president at Shelton Vineyards. “Having one system that manages all aspects of our business, including winery production, retail sales, web sales and restaurant sales, will have a major impact on our business and make us more efficient.”

Ekos works with family wineries to provide capabilities that make running a business easier. Features of the software include:

  • Systems to track inventory from raw ingredients through case goods
  • Pre-populated Report of Wine Premises Operations to streamline tax reporting
  • Integrations with accounting software (QuickBooks and Xero) and POS/ecommerce systems including Commerce7 and Square
  • 150+ reports to give real-time visibility into business operations

“We decided to work with Ekos out of a desire to integrate the various pieces of the business. With many moving parts, having a software to house our data from grape to glass was the desired outcome,” said Ethan Brown, winemaker at Shelton Vineyards. “We will use Ekos to control our wine production and see the nuts and bolts of each step in the winemaking process and to better manage and control our inventory.”

Utilizing technology is crucial for winemakers who want to keep up with the demands of running a business in today’s digital world and continue to increase sales year over year. A 2020 survey of wineries conducted by Ekos found that wineries that use a software to manage inventory and production are 23% more likely to expect increased sales in the next 12 months.

“While Ekos works with makers all over the world, we cherish the opportunity to work with businesses in our own backyard, like the team at Shelton Vineyards,” said Josh McKinney, CEO of Ekos. “The Shelton team has embraced our software and best practices and is also providing us with valuable feedback that will help us improve our product for the future.”
