Vermouth Day is Best Celebrated with Madrid’s Signature Effortless Spritz

La Pivón Americano

SONOMA, Calif. (March 16, 2021) — With spritz season upon us and the ever-increasing popularity of lower-ABV cocktails, La Pivón Spanish Vermouth and its négociant, 3 Badge Beverage Corp., are thrilled to celebrate Vermouth Day on Sunday, March 21, 2021.

La Pivón Vermouth blends distinctly Spanish flavor profiles in its two Blanco and Rojo variations, each made with macerated locally sourced herbs and botanicals like cardamom, wormwood, cinnamon, clove, orange peel, lemon peel, gentian, as well as oranges from Valencia, Spain, resulting in herbaceous, balanced and versatile profiles.

“With Vermouth Day being a nationally recognized holiday, we look forward to drawing more attention to our favorite aperitif,” said August Sebastiani, 3 Badge President. “Vermouth is so versatile and requires the simplest preparation, it can be enjoyed as an aperitif on the rocks, as a simple spritz, or to create an unexpected Spanish twist in a classic cocktail.”

Crafted in Madrid, La Pivón Vermouth (SRP $29) is inspired by the daily 11 a.m.-12 p.m. Spanish ritual, La Hora del Vermut.  This “Vermouth Hour” is a treasured tradition Madrileños have practiced for decades as a way to bring friends and family together before a great meal—typically lunch—to awaken the appetite and ignite the senses. The Blanco and Rojo La Pivón Vermouths pair perfectly with pantry staple tapas like olives and sardines, though both pair well with hard cheeses and almost any salty snack. A classic spritz recipe featuring the Rojo Vermouth is below.

La Pivón Americano

  • 1.5 oz. La Pivón Rojo Vermouth
  • 1.5 oz. Campari
  • Sparkling Water

Build vermouth and Campari in glass, top with ice and fill with sparkling water. Garnish with a large orange twist that wraps around the inside of the glass.

To celebrate the inaugural holiday, La Pivón will be launching a special spritz menu featuring new recipes starting on Vermouth Day and continuing every Sunday thereafter.

We hope you will invite your readers and followers to join in celebrating Vermouth Day on March 21 with La Pivón, as well as with Foods from Spain, organized by the Trade Commission of Spain. Media samples are available for your consideration.
