The global wine tasting series delves into the diverse and storied wine regions of Italy with its upcoming webinar.

March 15, 2021 (Los Angeles, Calif.)  Geographical Digest, one of the wine industry’s most wide-ranging educational webinars, returns for another valuable installment as The SOMM Journal and National Geographic Books partner to present “Italy: North to South” – scheduled for virtual broadcast this Thursday, March 18, 2021.

Italian wines are a perennial American favorite, and always seem to inspire strong emotions  sometimes admiration, sometimes frustration, perhaps both. Bringing a panel of winemakers from La Bella Italia together, Geographical Digest will delve into the complicated world of Italian wine, shedding light on the conundrums, mysteries, and joys of this ancient land of the vine.

“Italy: North to South” panelists include: Antonio Cavallo, Winemaker of Masseria Altemura Winery in Puglia; Robin Shay, Export Manager of Allegrini Estates in Northern Italy’s Valpolicella region; Pietro Ratti, Owner of Ratti Winery in the Barolo Valley; Raffaele Boscaini of Serego Alighieri Estate in the heart of Valpolicella Classica; Murphy Perng, In-house Sommelier of the Prosecco-focused Weed Cellars; and Alessandro Medici, proprietor of Medici Ermete in the the Emilia-Romagna region.

Live virtual tastings will be held at 9 AM PST, 12 PM EST, and 6 PM Central Europe on March 18. SommCon, the hosting platform for the webinar, brings together industry professionals and oenophiles of all levels to discuss, develop, and lead the conversation about wine. The sessions are available to be viewed live via SommCon or on-demand at the convenience of the audience. Enthusiasts can register for the live webinar or view past on-demand sessions, free of charge, at SommJournal.com. Stay tuned for upcoming webinars in the series: April 22: Luxury from Remarkable Sites; May 20: A World of Bordeaux Blends; and June 24: Western Europe.
