PURCHASE, NEW YORK (February 22, 2021) — Kobrand Corporation, a leading wine and spirits importer with a distinguished portfolio of hand-selected brands from around the world, is delighted to announce the brand launch and addition of Rebellious to its timeless California portfolio. Effective immediately, Kobrand is exclusively responsible for all sales and marketing activities for Rebellious in California and other select markets.

“Adding Rebellious to Kobrand’s iconic California portfolio presents an exciting opportunity to expand our offering of the red blend category. The red blend category has shown strength over the last 10 years, however in more recent years, especially in California, we have seen a dramatic movement towards premiumization within the category,” explains Robert T. DeRoose, Kobrand Corporation’s President and CEO.

Sourced from California’s Sonoma and Mendocino regions, Rebellious pays homage to the winemaker’s art of blending, with each varietal thoughtfully chosen for a generous and balanced blend. It introduces a premium blend of red wine rooted in the rebellious spirit of nature with a uniquely full-bodied flavor and luxurious finish. The bottle label design is inspired by the roots of the grapevines. These roots grow untamed beneath the rich, often rocky soil, digging deep into the ground to reach the water they require.

Nature is unpredictable, unforgiving and unapologetic. Everything must fight to survive. But it’s precisely this challenge that inspired the creation of our Rebellious Red Wine Blend. Rebellious roots dig deep in their search for water, a struggle that yields the best grapes. And instead of creating a typical red blend from these grapes, Rebellious embraces the unexpected by adding a dash of Sauvignon Blanc to round out the aromas, for a wine that tastes like no other.

Rebellious enters the market with the 2018 Red Wine Blend (SRP: $24.99). The grapes were selected from prestigious growing regions throughout California, including the North Coast Appellations of Sonoma and Mendocino. The red blend is comprised of 44% Zinfandel, 23% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot, 7% Syrah, 7% Mourvedre, 7% Petite Sirah, 3% Malbec, and 1% Sauvignon Blanc; it is also fermented in separate lots. The wine is then blended and aged for 16 months in French and American oak.

The 2018 vintage had a cool spring with much-needed rainfall, followed by a moderate summer to set the stage for a slow and consistent harvest. Fruit came in after Labor Day and the long growing season allowed the vines to develop complex flavors, rich color, and balanced acidity.

The Rebellious Red Wine Blend has aromatics of dark cherry, strawberry jam, brown sugar, dark chocolate, and cola with hints of cardamom, black pepper, sandalwood and licorice. On the palate, it’s bright and vibrant with flavors of fresh blueberries and allspice that linger into a creamy, rich mid-palate and ends with a luxuriously long finish. This blend is bursting with flavors that pair well with grilled foods, including saucy baby back ribs, grilled vegetables, or a juicy burger with cheddar. The spicy fruit flavors also complement braised short ribs and roast turkey with sausage stuffing.
