It’s All About Healthy Soil, Plants and Air with Fred Hunt, NRCS RCD
Wednesday, December 2 – 6:30pm – Please join us on Wednesday, December 2, at 6:30pm, for a Zoom discussion on soil, soil sustainability and carbon farming for El Dorado County grape growers. Our guest speaker will be Fred Hunt recently of the El Dorado and Georgetown Divide Resource Conservation Districts (RCD). Fred was the RCD’s Soil Technician/Ag Specialist for 11 years and has recently retired.
Sustainability, sustainable, what is it? What does this mean for you and your vineyards? How does this apply to your cultural practices? Carbon farming improves a plants’ ability to take carbon dioxide out of the air and put it into the soil where it releases oxygen and becomes fertilizer. Healthier plants allow for more carbon dioxide sequestration. The discussion will be about soil practices for healthier plants and cleaner air.
Join the scheduled Zoom meeting for a better understanding of what this means to you as a grower. Hear the good news about current cultural practices in El Dorado County and how to step up your carbon farming game. What are you seeing in your vineyard? Bring your questions for Fred.

About Fred Hunt
Fred Hunt was an “Ag Specialist” with the Resource Conservation District (RCD) for the past 11 years. He retired from this position on October 1. Prior to returning to El Dorado County in 2007, Fred worked in the Central Valley for 33 years working in the fruit industry growing or selling citrus, table grapes and tree fruit. Fred and his family continue to raise livestock and horses in El Dorado County. He is available for consulting on resource issues, tree fruit selection and maintenance, and livestock.
