Crimson Wine Group Launches Wine & Words Virtual Events in Partnership with William Morrow’s Book Club Girl

Wines from Pine Ridge Vineyards, Seven Hills and Seghesio Family Vineyards Will Be Paired with Fun Summer Reads for Virtual Discussions and Winemaker Tastings

Crimson Wine Book Club Joint LogoNAPA, Calif. (July 21, 2020) – Crimson Wine Group, Ltd. (OTCBB: CWGL), in partnership with Book Club Girl, a social media and event platform of the William Morrow group at HarperCollins Publishers, has announced the launch of Book Club Girl Presents Wine & Words virtual series. The exciting partnership represents the first virtual book club of its kind to pair a curated selection of wines with top book club selections and brings together readers and wine lovers from all over the U.S. to connect virtually for live wine tasting and book discussions.

Because it wouldn’t be a book club without wine, readers can purchase the Book Club Girl 6-Bottle Collection featuring wines from Pine Ridge Vineyards (Napa, CA), Seven Hills Winery (Walla Walla, WA), and Seghesio Family Vineyards (Healdsburg, CA). Each monthly virtual event will feature two wines from one of Crimson Wine Group’s luxury wine estates paired with the hottest can’t-put-it-down summer picks for a live virtual tasting and discussion between the respective author and the winemaker.

“With millions of people continuing to stay home this summer and travel plans cancelled, we see this partnership as an opportunity for people to come together over shared interests and maintain a sense of community,” said Alexa Fox, vice president of Direct to Consumer of Crimson Wine Group. “Attendees will have the chance to join others from across the country as they sip, chat, and ask questions about two of our favorite things — books and wine.”

“Wine is a basic necessity for most book club gatherings, and at a time when we can’t gather easily with friends in person, we are thrilled for the opportunity to partner with the Crimson Wine Group to create a virtual event series that spotlights perfect pairings of delicious wine and unputdownable books for readers to share together,” said Jennifer Hart, SVP/Associate Publisher of William Morrow and Founder of Book Club Girl.

The Book Club Girl 6-bottle Collection is priced at $125 (shipping included) and features the following six wines from premier wine-growing regions paired with three highly anticipated HarperCollins titles:

  • Pine Ridge Vineyards Chenin Blanc + Viognier White Blend 2019 & Pine Ridge Vineyards Chenin Blanc + Viognier Sparkling 2019 paired with Her Last Flight by NYT Bestselling author Beatriz Williams.

July Book Club featuring Pine Ridge Vineyards Chenin Blanc + Viognier and Her Last Flight by Beatriz Williams

Thursday, July 23, 7 p.m. ET

A novel of adventure and lyric beauty in a Hawaiian island setting is the perfect pairing for Pine Ridge Chenin Blanc + Viognier, a perennially popular blend. This wine unites the crisp, honeyed fruit of Chenin Blanc with the juicy stone fruit notes of Viognier. In the new sparkling version of this beloved wine, all those flavors leap out of the glass, providing delicious company until the book’s final page.

Her Last Flight is a remarkable novel of both raw suspense and lyric beauty. In 1947, photographer and war correspondent Janey Everett arrives at a remote surfing village on the Hawaiian island of Kauai to research a planned biography of forgotten aviation pioneer Sam Mallory. Obsessed with Sam’s fate, Janey has tracked down Irene Lindquist, whom she believes might be the legendary Irene Foster, Mallory’s onetime student and flying partner whose disappearance during a round-the-world flight in 1937 remains one of the world’s greatest unsolved mysteries.

September Book Club featuring Seghesio Family Vineyards and The Exiles by Christina Baker Kline

Thursday, September 24 at 7 p.m. ET

Seghesio Family Vineyards is best known for passionately producing exceptional Zinfandels in Sonoma County. The team at Seghesio Family Vineyards likes to say that Zinfandel is not for the faint of heart – it may be easy to drink but it is a challenging variety to grow. Seghesio has stuck with Zinfandel for 125 years and have found themselves in good company with the bold wine drinkers who have followed the winery off the beaten path to discover and fall in love with this unique variety. It’s difficult to imagine better wines to pair with Christina Baker Kline’s newest novel, The Exiles, filled with bold and brave characters facing the unknown.

In this gorgeous novel, Christina Baker Kline brilliantly recreates the beginnings of a new society in a beautiful and challenging land, telling the story of Australia from a fresh perspective, through the experiences of Evangeline, Hazel, and Mathinna. While life in Australia is punishing and often brutally unfair, it is also, for some, an opportunity: for redemption, for a new way of life, for unimagined freedom. Told in exquisite detail and incisive prose, The Exiles is a story of grace born from hardship, the unbreakable bonds of female friendships, and the unfettering of legacy
