Three Sticks LogoHealdsburg, Calif. (April 27, 2020) – Gary Farrell Winery and Three Sticks Wines of Sonoma County are elevating the virtual tasting to a new level this month as they join together to launch an interactive virtual wine and food experience called Sip & Savor Through Sonoma: A Virtual Exploration. This new collaboration, offered to guests via Zoom, includes hosted tours of each winery, tutored tastings of top-rated wines and food pairing segments with curated recipes from chefs Charlie Palmer of the Charlie Palmer Collective, which includes Dry Creek Kitchen, and Armando Navarro of El Dorado Kitchen.

As people around the county look for new experiences that can be enjoyed at home, Gary Farrell and Three Sticks are giving guests the opportunity to get to know these acclaimed Sonoma County wineries, their wines and food pairings from renowned chefs from their living rooms. The immersive experience explores each winery one at a time, with Gary Farrell hosting guests virtually from the winery Salon and Three Sticks hosting from their historic Adobe home. Sip & Savor Through Sonoma begins with an introduction from the winery host, who then leads guests on a virtual tour, discussing the vineyards and winemaking techniques and offering behind-the-scenes stories, while encouraging questions and comments. For each winery, a tutored tasting of two, specially selected, pre-shipped wines follows, with the host providing background on the winemaking and vineyard as well as commentary on the wines. The featured wines are the Gary Farrell 2017 Olivet Lane Vineyard Chardonnay and 2015 Gap’s Crown Vineyard Pinot Noir and the Three Sticks 2018 Durell Vineyard Pinot Blanc and 2018 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir.

Gary Farrell Wines LogoThe virtual experience for each winery culminates with a special food pairing segment with an easy-to-make recipe for a dish paired with one of the wines. Gary Farrell Winery worked with Chef Charlie Palmer of Dry Creek Kitchen in Healdsburg to develop an entrée recipe paired with their Pinot Noir. Palmer has received critical acclaim for his signature Progressive American cooking, and he has combined his creative cooking spirit and flair for business to open dozens of notable restaurants across the country, including Dry Creek Kitchen. Three Sticks worked with Chef Armando Navarro of El Dorado Kitchen in Sonoma to develop an entrée recipe paired with their Pinot Blanc. Navarro has a stellar résumé, leading culinary teams at top restaurants along both coasts, including his Executive Chef role at both El Dorado Kitchen and the sizzling Olla Cocina in San Jose. At El Dorado Kitchen, he infuses menus with seasonal, locally sourced ingredients, and his style is characterized as fresh, simple and approachable with a distinctly Sonoma sensibility. For the food pairing segment, each winery’s host leads a discussion of the food pairing dynamics, which is complemented by a short video segment from the respective chef. A Q&A session at the end offers guests further opportunity to interact with each winery.

Sip & Savor Through Sonoma is offered at pre-scheduled dates and times, and guests can make reservations with each winery separately to provide schedule flexibility. Reservations can be made at www.Bit.ly/SipandSavorSonoma. The cost is $250 ($125 to each winery), which includes the virtual tours, wine tastings and food pairing segments, two bottles of wine from each winery and two recipes. In addition, Gary Farrell Winery is donating $2 from every bottle sold, split equally between the Children of Restaurant Employees (CORE) fund and the Center for Disaster Philanthropy (CDP) fund. Three Sticks is donating $10 per pack to Sonoma Family Meal (SFM) and $10 per bottle of all 2018 Durell Vineyard Pinot Blanc sold.
