What: Sonoma-Cutrer, known for producing world-class Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in the esteemed Russian River Valley, invites you to join “Wine Down Wednesday” with a series of weekly virtual wine tastings!

Who: The Sonoma-Cutrer Winemaking Team:

Mick Schroeter, Winemaking Director:

Mick’s decorated and storied wine background made him superbly qualified to serve as only the third head winemaker in the history of Sonoma-Cutrer. His expertise brought him to Sonoma-Cutrer in the role as Winemaking Director. It is his long track record of success and illustrious career in Australia and California, along with twice being named “Winemaker of the Year” at the London International Wine & Spirit Competition, which gave Mick the encompassing experience to take the reins at Sonoma-Cutrer. He considers it one of the industry’s true dream jobs. He is honored to carry on the brand’s storied legacy but also eager to take it to new heights.

Cara Morrison, Chardonnay Winemaker:

Cara began her wine career in 1998 when she joined the Jekel Vineyard winemaking team.  In 2000, she was selected as the White Winemaker at Fetzer Vineyards and worked there until she joined Sonoma-Cutrer in 2005. Coming to Sonoma-Cutrer allowed her to immerse herself in crafting Chardonnay in the classic, Burgundian style. She considers Chardonnay a special grape that allows the winemaker more versatility than any other; Sonoma-Cutrer’s intense focus on Chardonnay is what attracted her to the brand. Cara loves that her role allows her to experiment with barrel maturation and the blending process of both of Sonoma-Cutrer’s Burgundian grape varietals – Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

Zidanelia Arcidiacono, Pinot Noir Winemaker:

Zidanelia “Z” arrived in the US in 2007 and soon learned of Sonoma-Cutrer, where she applied for and was hired as an Enologist for that season’s harvest. She loved the experience and region so much that she decided to stay, moving on to the same position at Fetzer winery. There her skills, experience, passion and hard work helped her move quickly through the ranks, and she became the Winemaker for Fetzer Reserve Wines and Little Black Dress. Z returned to Sonoma-Cutrer in 2015. Her experience made her the perfect fit for the role of crafting Sonoma-Cutrer’s outstanding Pinot Noirs. Zidanelia loves nurturing the wines throughout the process and, even more, seeing others enjoy the results of her work.
