A Rare Collection of Limited-Release Wines from the Santa Cruz Mountains AVA Will be Released This Fall

The “Mountain Collection” features the top three cabernet sauvignons, pinot noirs and chardonnays from the world-renowned wine region as selected by Master Sommelier David Glancy

APTOS, Calif. (Sept. 19, 2019)- A rare collection of nine limited-release wines from the Santa Cruz Mountains AVA will be released this fall. The Mountain Collection, which includes many collector’s edition wines that are usually only available by select allocation, will be available for purchase from October 1 to November 15, 2019. This is the first time wines of this caliber and prestige will be available to the public as an entire collection.

The collection includes three bottles of cabernet sauvignon, three bottles of pinot noir and three bottles of chardonnay. The wines were hand-selected by Master Sommelier David Glancy, Founder of the San Francisco Wine School, to represent the top wines of the AVA. Glancy is one of only twelve people in the world to hold both a Master Sommelier diploma and a Certified Wine Educator credential. He has also earned Certified Specialist of Spirits, French Wine Scholar, and Italian Wine Professional certifications. Additionally, Glancy created the California Wine Appellation Specialist credential, a professional credential entirely dedicated to California wine.

About the Santa Cruz Mountains Winegrowers Association

Overlooking the renowned Silicon Valley, the Santa Cruz Mountains is a winegrowing region where high tech gives way to high altitude. Spanning 60 miles along the California coast, the appellation is defined by its high-altitude vineyards and unique location at the convergence of the mountains, Pacific Coast and San Francisco Bay. This combination of steep slopes, ridgetops, and cooling marine influences creates a patchwork of microclimates, enabling the region’s nearly 300 growers and wineries to produce excellent wines ranging from sun-loving cabernet sauvignon and merlot to cool-climate pinot noir and chardonnay and more. As most are small, family-owned wineries with limited distribution, the best way to experience Santa Cruz Mountains wines is in the place where they’re grown. Visitors can easily reach the region’s many wineries and tasting rooms by driving in from nearby San Jose or San Francisco. Contrasted with these large cities, the Santa Cruz Mountains is a bucolic region defined by charming small towns and an independent spirit that welcomes those with a taste for the extraordinary.
