Passion, Poise & Posture, a Summer Retrospective at Madrigal Wine Tasting Salon and Gallery in Sausalito

Winery Continues Bay Area California Artist Series

July 23, 2019, Sausalito, CAMadrigal Family Winery Tasting Salon & Gallery in Sausalito will host its 32nd installation of its Art and Wine series, featuring the work of local professional Marin County Artist Anne Marie De Rivera with art curation by Shiva Pakdel on Thursday, August 1st from 6:00-8:00pm. The exhibit is on view through August 29th.

Anne-Marie De Rivera

Anne-Marie was born in New York, to Belgian and Dutch parents, raised exclusively speaking the French language until the age of 10. She has resided in many countries, from the U.S. to Canada, Chile, and Switzerland, graduating from l’Ecole des Beaux Arts in Geneva.

Following 12 years in Mexico, she relocated to California in 1976 and, after raising her two children, rekindled her passion for painting in 1988. Anne-Marie continues her work in the historic ICB Art Center in Sausalito.

Her main influences are the “Fauves” (“wild beasts”), a loosely allied group of artists sharing a similar approach, including Matisse, Gauguin, Chagall, and Rouault, among others.

Her work is a blend of the European education of her early childhood, combined with the colors, passion, and folklore of Latin America which she assimilated through her travels.

Anne-Marie has always been fascinated by nature, the human figure, and the animal form. Her figurative work focuses on revealing the moods and feelings of her subjects through their attitude and posture. She often outlines her subjects and is attracted to imaginary backgrounds where the richness of fabrics, pleats, and other textures add atmosphere and dimension.

Anne-Marie’s work has been exhibited internationally at the Grand Palais in Paris, France, in Stockholm, Sweden, and Santiago, Chile. For more information, visit www.amderivera.com
