SARATOGA, Calif. (July 16, 2019) – Eden Estate Wines, a family-owned winery in the prestigious Santa Cruz Mountain appellation, has tapped public relations firm McCue PR to launch its new wine brand and tell the Eden Estate Wines’ story across public relations and marketing channels.

Founded by former Apple Executive John Couch, Eden Estate is located in an eastern valley at the base of Mt. Eden. Couch brought Winemaker Bill Brosseau on board to produce a premium cabernet sauvignon from the two and a half acres of hand-harvested fruit grown organically on the property. Brosseau’s expertise comes from more than 19 years on the winemaking team at Testarossa and education from the renowned UC Davis School of Viticulture and Enology.

“We’re using thoughtful, careful farming and winemaking methods to make the very best of what the land has to offer,” explains Brosseau.

All wines are grown, produced and bottled on-site and three vintages of the cabernet sauvignon are currently available: 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon, 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon, 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon, 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve, and 2017 Rosé of Cabernet Sauvignon.

The Winery

Eden Estate’s heavy clay soil and limestone lend a rich, dense, and vibrant yet concentrated palate to the estate’s wines. Warm days and cool evenings in the valley, where the fruit is protected from the wind, result in an intense fruit character and natural acidity.

Eden Estate is currently producing 450 cases of wine per year and will increase case production to 700 cases following the 2019 harvest. Additionally, Eden Estate plans to introduce white wine to its portfolio in 2020. Private tastings are currently available on weekends by appointment only and held in an impressive stone and pine carousel gazebo constructed in 2018 that can accommodate up to 200 people for tastings and events.

The wines can be purchased at the winery, on Eden Estate’s website and can also be found in select restaurants throughout California.

About John Couch

John Couch is a pioneer of the American tech boom and is most well known as one of the top executives at Apple. His career began as a software engineer at Hewlett-Packard and was then hired by Steve Jobs as the 54th employee of Apple in 1978 and in 1979 became Apple’s first Vice President of Software.

In 1984 Couch left Apple to serve as Chairman at Santa Fe Christian Schools, revolutionizing the debt-laden, 150-person student body to a blue ribbon school of 1,000 students on a 17-acre facility. At Steve Job’s request, John returned to Apple in 2002, as Apple’s First Vice President of Education. His book, “Rewiring Education, How Technology Can Unlock every Student’s Potential,” available on Amazon, proposes a new teaching method for K-12 education.

Inspired by his passion for cabernet sauvignon, Couch purchased the property in the backyard of Silicon Valley and built the winery from the ground up. Couch says, “Our vision was to create a destination where friends and family could come together and enjoy wine made from some of the most incredible cabernet grapes.”
