(June 25, 2019 – Sonoma, CA) — After 18 years, Anne Moller-Racke has decided to step away from the Donum Estate, as President and Winegrower, to devote her full time and energy into building Blue Farm Wines. Started in 2001, with the planting of seven-acres of Pinot Noir behind her historic Victorian farmhouse in Sonoma, Blue Farm Wines itself was founded in 2013 with the addition of a like-minded partner and his 1861 Pinot Noir vineyard.
“I am very proud of founding Donum Estate in 2001, developing their 170-acres of estate vineyards, establishing the 40 world-renowned art installations and finishing a brand-new state of the art winery and hospitality center,” says Moller-Racke. “The timing was perfect to pass the torch to the next caretakers of this amazing Carneros property. With the completion of the Donum project, I am excited to give my time, energy and soul focus into Blue Farm Wines.”
The Moller-Racke family purchased Buena Vista, California’s first winery in 1979. A native of Oberwesel, Germany, Anne Moller-Racke followed in 1981, developing 1,000 estate acres and leading the viticulture efforts for Buena Vista Carneros Winery. During her time as vice president of vineyard operations, Anne worked intensively with some of the industry’s foremost authorities, including Andre Tchelistcheff, Dr. Phil Freese and Dr. Paul Skinner.
In 1999, Anne purchased a Farmhouse property in southwest Sonoma that included a historical Victorian house, now her home, and a ten-acre parcel of which seven-acres she planted to vine. This led to Blue Farm and it’s first estate vineyard, Anne Katherina.
“I am happiest when walking my Anne Katherina vineyard and tending the adjacent rose garden. Blue Farm is like a garden of Eden,” says Moller-Racke. “Throughout my years I have learned that crafting beautiful wines starts with the very best fruit source. I have always applied meticulous attention to detail in realizing the greatest potential out of each vineyard block.”
