CLOVIS, Calif. — Over one hundred Californians across the Central Valley will be hired this summer to work behind the scenes in the wine industry, ensuring that only the finest quality grapes go on to become California’s wines.

Local business Winegrape Inspection Program (WIP), Inc. has offices in Clovis and Turlock and inspects over half of California’s grapes grown for wine each harvest season.

This year, 120 seasonal inspection positions will be filled by Central Valley residents. Full-time, seasonal positions at WIP, Inc. start at $17/hour, plus potential overtime. Positions are open now and require little prior experience.

“Our team operates to test loads of winegrapes and provides certification in soluble solids, material other than grapes, and defects,” said JoAnn Cooper, Operations Executive at Winegrape Inspection Program, Inc. “Simply put, WIP, Inc. provides impartial inspection that is consistent for our valued winegrape customers.”

California is America’s top wine producer, with California-made wines making up 81% of the wine on American tables (discovercaliforniawines.com). Inspecting grapes is crucial to upholding California’s reputation for world-class quality wine, but the inspection business also provides jobs and services to the Central Valley’s local economy.

“Our company offers a very unique experience for people to be a part of California’s Ag industry,” said Bonnie Eubanks, Administrative Executive at WIP, Inc.

Many WIP employees return to work for the company each season.

“The pay is great and the company is family oriented. WIP, Inc. is a good place to grow as an individual, with opportunities for advancement. I personally gained a great deal of experience as an inspector and manager for this company,” said Letty Gonzalez, who has worked for WIP for 10+ seasons.

“We are committed to respecting and rewarding our team for a job well done,” said Eubanks. “We provide our team with the skills and resources to succeed. Members of our team will grow both personally and professionally.”
