Santa Rosa, Calif., June 18, 2019. Results are in for the 2019 International Women’s Wine Competition, a contest judged solely by leading wine industry professional women. This year’s top honor was awarded to Navarro Vineyards for its 2018 Gewurztraminer.

Owned and operated by Wine Competitions Management & Productions, the event took place June 11-12, 2019 in Sonoma County, California. Although judged only by women, submissions made by women and men are accepted into competition. More than 1025 wines were entered in the competition. Judges awarded a total of seven Best of Show awards, 45 Best of Class designations, and 203 gold and double gold medals.

For 12 years now, we’ve been recognizing and celebrating this competition’s niche appeal, giving women their own voice in the style and choice of wines they prefer,” according to event founder and president, Debra Del Fiorentino. She adds, “It’s never been timelier to include women’s ideas and viewpoints as solid influencing factors in our society and its ever-growing economy. The judges recognize not only the best wines submitted, but also the wines they feel would appeal most to women wine buyers and consumers.”

Accolades for the title of Woman Winemaker of the Year went overwhelmingly to Jamie Benziger of Imagery Estate Winery in Glen Ellen, California

“Jamie has proven herself as one of the best female winemakers out there. But even though a special nod goes to the best woman winemaker, it’s important to know that this competition is open to all winemakers, male and female alike,” says Del Fiorentino

Best of Show winners are listed as following:

Best of Show – Cider
Gowan’s Heirloom Cider, NV Gravenstein, Anderson Valley
