A fan of bubbles, Lynn Tillman has been ‘asking’ Bob to make a sparkling wine since the couple founded Alta Colina in 2003. Lynn’s Cuvee is now available for a limited time (don’t worry, the couple has plenty).

June 17, 2019 (Paso Robles, Calif.)— Alta Colina is proud to announce our co-founder and winemaker, Bob Tillman, has made good on a 16-year-old promise to his wife, Lynn, by releasing the winery’s first sparkling wine. The release was a surprise, and is Bob’s gift to Lynn for the couple’s golden wedding anniversary on June 21.

Called Lynn’s Cuvee, the sparkling wine keeps with Alta Colina’s Rhone focus and is made from 100-percent estate Grenache Blanc. It’s currently available for a limited time in the Tasting Room– for $50, naturally.

“It’s true. It took me 16 years,” Bob said laughing. “But, I wanted to execute it beautifully, with our own estate fruit and using traditional méthode champenoise to create it. And, of course, I wanted the timing to be special. I figured our 50th was pretty special.”

Also special is the label, which is shaped like a traditional Navajo wedding vase, an artifact that holds a special place in the couple’s relationship. Married in the front yard of a Justice of the Peace in Plano, Texas in 1969, the couple was given a Navajo vase as a wedding gift.

“Two years after the wedding, we took a wine appreciation night class in the Bay Area Free University – think hippies – and our winery dream was born,” Bob said. “Along the way we have lived all over the world, raised three great kids, made a lot of friends, and grown and drunk a lot of wine.”

While Lynn knew Bob and the team were finally toying with the idea of a sparkling wine – nicknamed Sparky – she was unaware the entire project was centered around celebrating their 50 years.

“I have to say, when I saw the label and the name, and then tasted it, it was definitely worth the wait,” said Lynn.

Starting Friday, June 21, Alta Colina will host a weekend-long Lynn’s Cuvee Celebration in the Tasting Room, located at 2825 Adelaida Road in Paso Robles. Come try the bubbles, toast Bob and Lynn and sample delicious fare from the Lou Lou Cheese Girl’s Trailer.
