The non-profit ROC to host meetings for wine technical professionals in the Sonoma-Napa region

Rescue, CA, May 28, 2019 – The non-profit Research Oenovation Collective, the ROC, has joined forces with the former Sonoma County Wine Technical Group to rebuild the series of regular meetings held in Sonoma County which have been dormant since the Tubbs fire of 2017 destroyed the Fountaingrove Inn where the meetings were once held.

The ROC is led by CEO Peter Salamone, driven by the ROC wine industry members, guided by an outstanding technical advisory committee and supported by industry sponsors and the ROC board of directors. In a unanimous vote at a meeting of the SCWTG board of directors, it was agreed that the SCWTG will merge with the ROC becoming ROC-Sonoma and will begin scheduling and holding regular meetings for wine industry professionals.

The inaugural meeting of ROC-Sonoma will be held on Thursday June 6 at 5PM at the Santa Rosa Junior College Shone Farm Ag Pavilion at 7450 Steve Olson Lane in Forestville. Like all regional chapters of the ROC, ROC-Sonoma will meet five times yearly outside of harvest months.

The initial ROC-Sonoma meeting will kick-off at 5PM with a social hour featuring a catered dinner by Smokehouse BBQ on the Ag Pavilion patio overlooking scenic Shone Farm.  The social hour will be followed by a keynote address, a technical tasting of a trial presented by Sonoma-Cutrer winemaker Cara Morrison and a presentation by Peter Salamone introducing ROC-Sonoma as an organization and describing the ROC trials which will be supported throughout 2019. All interested parties are encouraged to attend, please RSVP to ROC CEO Peter Salamone at psalamone@rocwine.org or by calling (707) 799-9463.

ROC CEO Peter Salamone says:

“Communication is a key component of all ROC functions. From providing opportunities for industry partners to clearly understand each other to facilitating seminars introducing the latest innovations for the industry on through dissemination of research results, the ROC strives for transparency in all activities.

The ROC will develop and contribute to regularly scheduled regional ROC member meetings where members, partners, advisors and invited experts will deliver timely seminar and round table presentations on topics of interest.

Providing opportunities such as the ROC regional meetings for wine professionals to meet in an informal atmosphere and discuss issues of importance to themselves and the industry at large is invaluable for the development of any technical industry, professional relationship or career path.”

Membership in the ROC is open to any individual, corporation or other business entity engaged in operation and/or manufacture of; wine, winemaking products, processing technology, research or technical development.
