Leading national fine wine importer VINTUS announces the launch of VINTUS New York (www.vintusny.com), or VNY, a new wholesale operation for fine wine and spirits that will service accounts throughout New York state starting July 1st. VNY will become the exclusive NY distributor for the complete VINTUS portfolio, including Champagne Bollinger, E. Guigal, Ornellaia, Masseto, Chateau Montelena, Ponzi Vineyards, Pétrus, Chateau La Fleur-Pétrus, Masciarelli, Tommasi, Sandrone, Le Macchiole, Quinta do Noval, Dog Point Vineyard, Errazuriz, Finca Decero and others, totaling 40 leading global estates.
VNY will also add to its portfolio other exceptional producers not handled by VINTUS nationally. Initially, these include Wilde Farm and Ferren Wines from Sonoma, Tilth Wines producing in several areas of California, and Van Volxem from Germany’s Saar Valley (unthinkably, this top German producer has been out of the New York market the last few years). Other renowned estates are under discussion and VNY expects to announce the addition of a further 15-20 producers to its portfolio by the end of the year. VNY will also build a craft spirits portfolio around GINRAW and Bonanto, an artisanal gin and amaro from Barcelona that are currently launching nationally through VINTUS.
President and CEO Michael Quinttus states, “This moment represents an incredibly exciting and significant development for our company as we strive to enhance future sales opportunities for our producer partners in this critical market for fine wines and spirits, while becoming closer to our restaurant and retail customers. Though we will be ending the excellent partnership we have had with Monsieur Touton Selection as our NY distributor, we are grateful for the work they have done on our brands and we look forward to continuing our relationship with Touton in several other states.”
VNY will be led by Vice President/General Manager Will Sugerman. Will joined the VINTUS team in January after 8 years at Skurnik Wines & Spirits, most recently as Director of Sales. “The opportunity to be involved with this incredible collection of estates, and to bring them to the New York market in a new and dynamic way, is the chance of a lifetime. I look forward to building on the tremendous success that VINTUS has had in New York, and working with Michael and his team to expand an already world-class portfolio.”
As a result of this development, VINTUS will move its office from Westchester County to New York City, where a 12,000 square-foot space is being built out to house both VINTUS and VNY. The space is located in the heart of the Bryant Park neighborhood of central Manhattan, with renovations expected to be completed this fall. Wines will be warehoused and delivered by longtime VINTUS partner Western Carriers.
VNY will launch with a team of 15 sales personnel, and is looking for experienced candidates in metro Manhattan, Brooklyn, Long Island, and Upstate New York.
