John Donegon Wilson joins prestigious Rutherford winery
Rutherford, Napa Valley, May 2019 –Round Pond Estate is proud to share the recent appointment of John Donegon Wilson as Winemaker, according to an announcement by owners Miles and Ryan MacDonnell.
Wilson will be responsible for the oversight of all aspects of winemaking for Round Pond’s esteemed portfolio of wines. “We’re thrilled to welcome John to our team,” said the MacDonnells, in making the announcement. “His hands-on leadership, vineyard and cellar expertise will be a significant factor in our continuing journey to elevate our special wines to be even better,” they said.
Wilson is keen to assume the role: “I am honored to join this prestigious farm-to-table inspired estate. This is a tremendous opportunity to be part of a talented team and continue to focus and build upon on the outstanding quality of Round Pond wines,” he said.
Wilson brings a wealth of experience through various winemaking positions in Napa and Sonoma counties. A graduate of the University of Colorado, Boulder, he has most recently been the Winemaker at Vine Cliff Winery. He has worked with Thomas Rivers Brown and held winemaking roles at notable wineries including Thomas George Estates, Littorai Wines in Sonoma and Rivers-Marie and Outpost Wines in Napa. His experience extends from the vineyard, including biodynamic practices, to meeting with customers on the road and at the winery.
The Cypress Group, an executive search firm based in St. Helena focused on the wine industry, facilitated Mr. Wilson’s hiring.
