London, United Kingdom: Tuesday, 09 April 2019: FIVS and Oenoppia jointly released guidelines regarding the information that should routinely be expected and made available when oenological products are purchased by wine producers. Released during a ceremony marking the opening of FIVS’s 2019 meetings at the Grosvenor Hotel in London, this document will help winemakers and suppliers to navigate more easily the complex process involved with the purchase and sale of oenological products.
The newly released guidelines identify key aspects associated with the purchase of oenological products, helping winemakers to comply accurately with quality management schemes and to furnish the correct types of information required for commercial transactions. In addition, winemakers will now be able to verify with ease that ingredients, most often additives or processing aids, are compliant with both local and international standards, and to avoid duplication of efforts. For their part, suppliers of oenological products will benefit from the guidance provided regarding appropriate information to accompany different types of transactions, which should lead to streamlined procedures.
FIVS President Greg Hodson commented, “I am so pleased that FIVS and Oenoppia have joined together to produce these important guidelines for the wine industry. The results of our partnership will be invaluable to wine producers and oenological products’ suppliers around the world.”
Oenoppia General Manager Stéphane La Guerche expressed his pleasure with the increasing collaboration between the two associations, adding, “I have truly enjoyed working with FIVS as we bolster the confidence wine producers should have in their business dealings with our members who make oenological products. It is our hope that these guidelines will further enhance the relationships within the industry, ensuring the continued production of first-rate products that consumers can enjoy.”
