Burgundy’s Oldest Domaine Joins National Importer in National Partnership

Napa, CA – Thursday February 28, 2019 – Historic Burgundian domaine Maison Champy has appointed Folio Fine Wine Partners as its national importer, and sales and marketing partner, effective March 1, 2019. The partnership includes national sales and marketing representation for the Maison’s portfolio, and marks the importer’s first foray into the prestigious Burgundy category.

Folio Co-Founder Michael Mondavi commented on the partnership, saying: “No fine wine portfolio is complete without the wines from Burgundy. Maison Champy provides us the perfect opportunity to further cement our prestige position with their exceptional wines.”

Mondavi continued:

“While we have always recognized the intrinsic quality that runs through every wine that bears the Maison Champy name, we are thrilled to also see the substantial investment being made into the vineyards, cellars and wines, to help drive future growth and expansion.”

Maison Champy’s Technical Director and Oenologist, Dimitri Bazas, echoed the sentiment, stating: “We are thrilled to join Folio Fine Wine Partners and Michael Mondavi’s teams of experts. Maison Champy is a boutique winery with an exceptional history of 300 years and a great ambition today. It is an exciting moment for us and our intention is to grow our presence in the US market and share both our rich heritage and our wines with American consumers.”

Founded in 1720, Maison Champy is the oldest Maison in Burgundy and boasts more than three centuries of history and experience. The celebrated Domaine is a recognized historical site and has established invaluable expertise in the production of rare and sought-after Burgundy crus from their 21 hectares of vineyards, including wines from the Premier and Grand-Cru vineyards including Corton-Charlemagne as well as small lots from the Cote de Nuits such as Mazis Chambertin or Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru les Suchots.

Among its values, Maison Champy is preserving land integrity by following the practices of sustainable and organic farming in order to highlight the true character of this exceptional terroir.

The Maison Champy boutique faces the famed Hospices de Beaune and welcomes visitors all year long. The historical site located at 5 Rue du Grenier à Sel will reopen in the heart of Beaune in the Spring of 2019, and visits will offer guests a 360 degree experience, unprecedented in Burgundy.

Folio will represent 15 wines from the Maison Champy portfolio including: “Cuvée Edme” Bourgogne Blanc and “Cuvée Edme” Bourgogne Rouge  (SRP: $30), Pernand-Vergelesses (SRP: $45), Pernand-Vergelesses “Clos de Bully” (SRP: $45), Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru En Caradeux (SRP: $65), Volnay (SRP: $65), Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru Les Chenevottes (SRP: $95), Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru (SRP: $200), to the prestige Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru (SRP: $550).

Wines are available nationally through fine wine restaurants and retail outlets across the U.S.
