Super Bock, the leading Portuguese beer brand from the Super Bock Group, has chosen Petainer’s one-way PET keg for key export markets. Super Bock is the best-selling Portuguese beer in the world and will be using petainerKeg to send its beer to New York, Hong Kong, Mozambique, and Cape Verde.
Super Bock is using the 30L Classic petainerKeg™ to ensure that its beer reaches its destination in prime condition, ready to be tapped and drunk. The complexities of transporting beer mean that single-use PET kegs such as petainerKeg™ are increasingly being used as a more efficient alternative to traditional steel kegs and glass bottles by brewers around the world. Disposable PET kegs help them overcome the challenges of long distances as well as saving the cost of sending empty containers back to the brewery.
Crucially, they also provide excellent product protection when the beer is in transit for six or more weeks. During this time, fluctuating and uncontrollable temperatures can have an impact on the quality of the beer. This can accelerate the chemical and physical reactions in the beer and make it age quickly.
Independent tests by the world renowned VLB and Hochshule Geisenheim University show that petainerKeg™ with its integrated oxygen scavenger technology has positive effects on flavour stability. On long journeys, when beer is exposed to relatively high temperatures, this can protect and preserve the original flavour better than stainless steel kegs because of lower oxidation.
