The 6th Annual Saké Fest PDX highlights food made by local chefs paired with international and local saké.

PORTLAND, Ore. – May 18, 2016 –The downtown Hilton Portland & Executive Tower welcomes nearly 40 Portland chefs and International saké producers on Wednesday, June 22, 2016. Saké Fest PDX attendees will have the opportunity to pair gourmet food with saké, a drink as versatile as wine or beer.

Five-time attendee Jill Oppenheim said, “Saké Fest PDX is the best beverage tasting event in town! Fantastic saké of all descriptions for the expert, and an amazing opportunity to learn for the novice. With really great food from some of Portland’s best places, Saké Fest PDX just gets better every year.”

“There will be dozens of saké varieties, including Oregon’s own SakéOne based in Forest Grove, with many premium and several rare saké as well, ” said Marcus V. Pakiser, Saké Fest PDX spokesperson and internationally renowned Saké Samurai.

Tickets: Early Admission: $75 per person in advance online only – SakeFestPDX.com; Regular Admission: $55 per person in advance online or $65 at the door. All attendees receive a free souvenir glass.

Saké is a drink made from rice that originated in China approximately 5,000 years ago. It came to Japan around the 3rd century AD where it has been constantly enhanced and refined. Saké, as it is known today, originated at the beginning of the 20th century with the advent of modern brewing and bottling techniques.

Saké Fest was created in Philadelphia by Ed Markus & David Wagner, owners of Event Navigators, a national event production company specializing in fundraising events for non-profit organizations. Saké Fest PDX’s mission is to educate all consumers about the versatility of pairing saké with virtually any style cuisine – from cheeses to chocolates and everything in between – even pizza and pulled pork!
