Wine Industry Climate Action Webinar

October 22, 2020 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm PDT

Coronavirus and climate change pose unprecedented threats to the wine industry. What can we do?

Reducing your business’s carbon footprint is important, but not enough. America needs bold bipartisan solutions at the national level. Wineries can help make this happen. Join these winemakers and experts to learn how:

  • 1:00 PM Welcome and Introduction: Bruce Hagen, Co-Founder, Business Climate Leaders
  • 1:10 PM What is the Energy Innovation Act and How Does it Helps the Wine Industry? Jonathan Marshall, Economics Editor, SF Chronicle (ret.)
  • 1:20 PM Impact of Climate Change on the Wine Industry: Paul Shakeshaft, Appellation Trading (Napa) and Jay Raffaldini, Raffaldini Vineyards (North Carolina)
  • 1:30 PM Questions and Discussion

To date, 90+ wineries have already signed on to the Wine Industry’s Climate Declaration in support of a strong, equitable carbon fee and dividend bill, like the Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act, H.R.763. Our goal is to position this solution as the backbone of climate legislation expected from the new Congress next year.

You can read and electronically sign the Wine Industry’s Climate Declaration here. We look forward to having you join us on Thursday, October 22nd.

Business Climate Leaders (BCL) is the business action team of Citizens’ Climate Lobby, a nonpartisan grassroots advocacy group with nearly 200,000 supporters in chapters covering almost every U.S. Congressional district. Businesses have powerful voices in advocacy. Supporting climate policy is both good business and good for your business.
