2017 Napa Vintage Report

January 18, 2018 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm PST

$295 – $395

The Vintage Report brings together scientists, winemakers, grapegrowers and industry leaders from all over the world to produce a one-day seminar that brings together open minds within the industry to discuss the previous year’s harvest in light of the most recent scientific findings and newly available data. Our biggest impact is asking the question: how can we leverage what we learned this year to improve vineyard practices and wine quality?

During the Napa Vintage Report, we will take a scientific look at the 2017 season and observe its consequences on vineyard performance. An exceptionally wet winter followed by the warmest temperatures on record has set the stage for extremes in vine response and ripening conditions. The intensity of heat waves have shaped and sometimes slowed down the 2017 maturation profiles. The late-season wildfires gave a tragic end to an already challenging vintage. We will review the effect of climate on plant development and discuss how this impacts vine and fruit physiology. A novel analysis of ripening dynamics will shed light on berry chemical changes and the effect of harvest timing on wine composition. Finally, we will discuss implications of smoke-related issues as well as different color extraction techniques on wine composition. Come to meet other winemakers and winegrowers and discuss these topics at the 2017 Napa Vintage Report!

Please note, this event is open to winery and vineyard professionals including winemakers, assistant winemakers, viticulturists, vineyard managers, winery owners, and event sponsors.

Cost to Attend: $295 Early Bird (while supplies last); $395 General Admission.
