Seghesio Family Vineyards Announces Inaugural Vintage of Sonoma Chardonnay

Historic Sonoma County Winery Celebrating 125th Anniversary Expands Portfolio with New Release

Seghesio logoHEALDSBURG, Calif (June 17, 2020) — Seghesio Family Vineyards is pleased to announce the release of its inaugural vintage of a new Sonoma Chardonnay (SRP $22).  The release expands the winery’s portfolio of benchmark Zinfandel and Italian varietals crafted from exceptional estate-owned and farmed vineyards across Sonoma County.  The Chardonnay is sourced from carefully selected vineyards in some of the region’s cooler climates and blended with a small portion of Vermentino from Seghesio’s estate Keyhole Ranch Vineyard in the Russian River Valley.

“Our goal in crafting the first vintage was to extend our style of Zinfandel to a Chardonnay,” said Andy Robinson, winemaker at Seghesio Family Vineyards. “When we do our job well, all of the elements of the wine complement one another and the wine thrives on its fruit quality and balance. We believe we have achieved this profile with our Sonoma Chardonnay and that this wine is a great complement to our Sonoma Zinfandel.”

The Chardonnay is blended with a small portion (4%) of estate-grown Vermentino from the winery’s Keyhole Ranch Vineyard for a uniquely Seghesio twist.  The wine is bright and focused with a touch of oak and the pure, intense fruit characteristic of the winery’s signature style.  The wine features notes of lemon curd and crushed stone on the nose that carry through to the palate, which has a creamy and round texture.  The finish of the wine is fresh and mouthwatering, making it a perfect match for a wide variety of seafood such as steamed clams, lobster, and halibut, as well as roast chicken or salmon in a beurre blanc.

During an early release of Sonoma Chardonnay offered exclusively to Seghesio’s wine club members, Robinson and the winery team were thrilled to receive an overwhelmingly positive reception to the wine’s launch.

Since its founding in 1895, Seghesio Family Vineyards has cultivated a long tradition of quality and excellence that continues to this day.  The winery encompasses more than 300 acres of estate-owned vineyards in premier sites in the Alexander, Dry Creek, and Russian River Valleys.
