WSET Diploma Classes Kick-Off in Chicago for January 2020 with American Wine School

CHICAGO – December 5, 2019 – Marianne Frantz, Founder & President of the American Wine School (AWS) is pleased to announce the next round of WSET® Level 4 Diploma in Wines classes will begin Monday, January 6, 2020 at the Sofitel Chicago, 20 E. Chestnut Street.

WSET® Level 4 Diploma in Wines is a specialist qualification for wine industry professionals seeking a greater knowledge of wine’s commercial factors, as well as the ability to professionally evaluate wines. The qualification will prepare those who are required to make managerial decisions, interpret information and have a thorough understanding of market trends and requirements in a variety of trade and industry sectors. The WSET® Level 4 Diploma in Wines aims to provide specialist product knowledge and understanding of the global and domestic markets for wines, as well as to develop a candidate’s ability to present information in a format suitable for business. The total study time required to earn the WSET® Level 4 Diploma in Wines award is (at a minimum) approximately 600 hours.

“The Diploma program is a valuable and in-depth course for anyone with or seeking a career in the wine industry,” said Frantz. “It prepares students for careers in sales, education, hospitality or even in the winery. This is our third year offering the program in Chicago, which is the only location in the Midwest for Diploma.”

WSET® Level 4 Diploma in Wines consists of six units including Viticulture and Vinification, Global Wine Business, Wines of the World, Sparkling and Fortified Wines and an independent research project. Students seeking Diploma must hold WSET® Level 3 in Wines or the WSET® Level 3 in Wines & Spirits to enroll. Classes begin Monday, January 6, 2020, with an informational kick-off session, followed by the first course on Viticulture and Vinification on Saturday, January 18, 2020.
