Tenute Tomasella: The Company’s Evolution Toward Organic Practices and 360° Green Investments for High-Quality Wines – and a Healthier Environment

September 24, 2025 (Mansuè – Treviso, Italy) — Tenute Tomasella is located in a borderland between Friuli and Veneto and has always been deeply committed to respecting its territory. Love for the land is at the heart of the company’s philosophy, with the awareness that everything originates from it. For this reason, sustainability is not just a value but a concrete commitment: ensuring product quality while respecting natural rhythms and biodiversity, and embracing new technologies, is the approach that guides every decision the company makes.

Following its S.Q.N.P.I. (National Quality System for Integrated Production) certification – which ensures special attention from vineyard to cellar with the goal of enhancing sustainability and biodiversity – Tenute Tomasella has become a promoter of projects in collaboration with Savingbees and Centoboschi. The company transforms environmental protection into a journey of tangible actions.

From the conversion to organic farming – set to be completed by the end of 2026 – to the creation of a tree-filled beekeeping oasis with a forest for pollinators, and the investment in cutting-edge technologies like Icaro, these are just some of the key elements in the company’s ongoing evolution.

We have passionately embraced the transition to organic farming, firmly believing that only by respecting the land can we truly express its essence. It makes us proud to think of ourselves, first and foremost, as custodians of the land we cultivate – land that we must responsibly preserve for future generations,” says Paolo Tomasella. He continues, “A further step toward sustainability is our collaboration with Saving Bees and Centoboschi, with whom we are developing the first tree-filled beekeeping oasis,” states the entrepreneur.

Together with Saving Bees and Centoboschi, we have created a 1.7-hectare forest within our estate, where 550 trees and shrubs have already been planted as a refuge and source of nourishment for pollinators – especially wild bees. We are truly excited and can’t wait to see the progress of this project,” concludes Paolo Tomasella.

Tenute Tomasella‘s journey toward organic conversion reached its first milestone in 2021, with the goal of completing the transition by 2026. Supporting this process, the company has integrated technological innovation through ICAROX4, a robot developed by the start-up Free Green Nature. This advanced system uses UV-C rays to treat vineyards, significantly reducing the need for pesticides while protecting the vines from harmful pathogens, fungi, and microorganisms—thus ensuring a more sustainable and environmentally friendly viticulture.

ICARO X4 serves as an active prevention system, safeguarding the vineyard against some of the most common and dangerous fungal threats, particularly powdery mildew (Oidium), downy mildew (Peronospora), and botrytis (Botrytis cinerea).

The system operates by fully automating the emission of UV-C rays, which penetrate the cell walls of pathogens, causing severe cellular damage and ultimately leading to their inactivation. ICARO X4 can cover approximately 10 to 15 hectares and requires the installation of a true environmental lab on the property. This lab analyzes various factors—such as wind, humidity, rainfall, and dew point—and, through a predictive algorithm, can forecast potential vineyard infections. When necessary, it sends a radio signal to activate ICARO X4. This represents a true example of Industry 4.0 technology at the service of winemakers—offering a sustainable, high-tech approach to vineyard protection.
