Tenuta Stella Presents Three Interpretations of Ribolla Gialla

September 24, 2025 (Dolegna del Collio – Gorizia, Italy) — Ribolla Gialla is one of Friuli Venezia Giulia’s most representative grape varieties, historically rooted in the Collio hills and recognized for its ability to produce wines of freshness, structure, and longevity. At Tenuta Stella, an organic winery founded in 2009 in Scriò, this native variety occupies a central role, providing the foundation for three distinct wines that together illustrate both the versatility of Ribolla Gialla and the estate’s production philosophy.

Ribolla Gialla has an extraordinary ability to convey the character of Collio,” notes Alberto Faggiani, CEO. “Its adaptability allows us to craft wines that are very different in style yet consistent in their expression of terroir.” Enologist Erika Barbieri adds: “For us, working organically and focusing on native varieties means preserving biodiversity and authenticity. Presenting Ribolla Gialla in three forms allows us to demonstrate the potential of this grape and the unique conditions of our vineyards.

The still Ribolla Gialla Collio DOC is vinified in stainless steel with spontaneous fermentation by indigenous yeasts, producing a linear, mineral-driven wine that highlights the varietal’s characteristic freshness and purity. The Ribolla Gialla Pas Dosé, a traditional-method sparkling wine, undergoes primary fermentation in stainless steel followed by 36 months of bottle aging. The result is a precise and vibrant expression with fine, persistent perlage, citrus notes, and notable sapidity. At the opposite end of the spectrum, the Ribolla Gialla Riserva Collio DOC is produced only in the best vintages. It ferments with skins for 30 days in French oak barrels using indigenous yeasts, then ages for 10 months in tonneaux and a further 12 months in large oak casks. The wine shows complexity and structure, with aromas of dried apricot, candied citrus, vanilla, and licorice, balanced by freshness and refined tannins that ensure longevity.

By producing Ribolla Gialla as a still wine, a sparkling Pas Dosé, and a Riserva, Tenuta Stella provides a comprehensive view of one of Friuli’s most important native grapes, confirming its role as both a versatile variety and a faithful interpreter of the Collio terroir.

About Tenuta Stella
As a guardian of a delicate balance between man and nature, Tenuta Stella is nestled among the rolling hills of Collio, located precisely in Scriò, in the municipality of Dolegna, in the highest part of Collio. Tenuta Stella is distinguished by its dedication to indigenous Friulian grape varieties, capable of expressing wines that are fascinating and never predictable and, above all, capable of telling, in every single sip, the richness of the territory from which they originate, and to sustainable wine production. From the intertwining of these values emerges the winery’s philosophy: to go beyond wine production to act as true guardians of an ecosystem that is as rich as it is delicate.
