September 18, 2025 (Calistoga, CA) — Dario Sattui has pledged $1.5 million to renovate the gym at Calistoga High School. He presented a check to Dr. Audra Pittman, Superintendent, Stephanie Rothberg-Allan, Board President, Monica Baldenegro, Principal, and students at a check presentation ceremony at the school on August 20, 2025. “I am honored to support the community which has been so supportive of our winery,” Sattui said. The updated space will be named The Dario Sattui Gym. The contribution be leveraged with bond funds to bring the outdated facility into the modern era by adding new HVAC systems, new flooring, updated locker rooms, updated entryway, and an exterior facade that will tie the building in with the rest of the campus.

“This donation is a tribute to education, community spirit, and the power of giving back,” commented Dr. Audra Pittman, Superintendent. “Mr. Sattui’s generosity to schools in Calistoga over the last twenty years is enormously meaningful,” she added.
“This gift is part of a much broader legacy,” explains Georg Salzner, President, Castello di Amorosa. “Over the last two decades, Dario has donated more than $7 million dollars to causes close to his heart, helping to shape the Napa Valley community for the better. The gym renovation is just one example of how Dario’s generosity continues to shape and strengthen Napa Valley. Whether supporting youth, preserving open spaces, or uplifting local services, it has always been rooted in a deep love for community and a desire to leave the world better than he found it,” Salzner adds.
“Dario Sattui’s legacy to the community is not only in the one-of-a-kind wineries he’s created but in the lives touched by his quiet acts of kindness, that will benefit generations to come,” Salzner adds. Sattui’s other philanthropic programs include putting easements on almost 700 acres into the Land Trusts of Napa and Sonoma Counties and almost $3,000,000 for heart disease research. He has also donated to many Napa Valley charities including Hands Across The Valley and Rianda House.
About Castello di Amorosa
Opening its doors in 2007 just south of the town of Calistoga, Castello di Amorosa is the realization of Dario Sattui’s all-consuming passion. A fourth-generation winemaker, he built an authentically styled 14th-century Tuscan castle winery to honor his Italian heritage and deep love for medieval architecture. Located in the heart of Napa Valley, Castello di Amorosa is dedicated to producing premium wines that honor tradition while also pioneering new techniques. The winery is a leader in direct-to-consumer marketing: its wines are available for purchase only at the winery and the winery’s website.
Castello di Amorosa is known for its events, including the upcoming Una Notte al Castello on September 19, 2025 and The Grand Barrel Party on May 8, 2026 and Hot Havana Nights on July 24, 2026. Details at https://castellodiamorosa.com/events/
The Castle is located at 4045 St. Helena Highway and is open seven days a week by appointment. The picturesque winery is one of Napa Valley’s most popular destinations—its mix of unusual elements include the castle-like setting perched on a hill, hand-crafted artisanal décor throughout and the traditional Tuscan-inspired farm animals who live at the winery.
