The Bastìe Collection by Tenute Tomasella

Bastìe Rosso and Bastìe Bianco: iconic labels that narrate the abundance of a unique territory and a commitment to sustainable quality

July 2, 2025 (Italy) — The Bastìe collection is the flagship line of Tenute Tomasella, designed for special occasions. Two wines – the Bastìe Rosso Merlot Friuli Grave DOC and the Bastìe Bianco Friuliano Friuli Grave DOC – are authentic expressions of an extraordinary terroir, located on the border between Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia, in a unique pedoclimatic context that gives the wines a complex and refined personality.

Bastìe Rosso Merlot Friuli Grave DOC is the result of a strict selection of the best Merlot grapes, subjected to thinning and handpicked, following a sustainability approach that guides every phase of the production process. This approach, aimed at limiting environmental impact, is complemented by careful winemaking, with long skin maceration at controlled temperatures, followed by aging in oak barriques12 months in stainless steel, and 60 months in bottles. The result is an elegant, well-structured red wine, with hints of ripe red fruits, dried plum, spices, coffee, moss, and rosemary, offering a full-bodied, sapid and persistent taste, ideal if paired with red meats, game, and aged cheeses.

Bastìe Bianco Friulano Friuli DOC is the clear counterpart to Bastìe Rosso: a white wine that whispers elegance, made from carefully selected Friulano grapes, a pure expression of our land. Created to accompany special moments, this white wine with a great personality stands out for its aromatic complexity, freshness, and balance.

On the nose, it reveals aromas of exotic fruit, dried apricot, wildflowers, vanilla, and delicate balsamic hints. The white winemaking process involves a 24-hour cryomaceration followed by gentle pressing, then fermentation in barriques, with complete malolactic fermentation. The wine then matures in casks and barriques, continues with 12 months in stainless steel, and undergoes 60 months of bottle aging, resulting in a smooth, refined, and deeply authentic bouquet.

Both wines embody the production philosophy of Tenute Tomasella, which combines respect for the environment with a continuous pursuit of excellence. Hand harvesting, sustainable agronomic practices, and meticulous care in the cellar are conscious choices aimed at reducing environmental impact and enhancing a territory that stretches across two regions but speaks a single language: that of authentic wine, capable of evoking emotions and telling stories.

The sustainable vision guiding the winery extends beyond vineyard operations. The company is currently undergoing a conversion to organic practices, which will be completed by 2026.

Tenute Tomasella has also invested in the creation of a beekeeping-forest oasis to protect biodiversity, and adopted advanced technologies like the hybrid robot Icaro X4 which uses UV-C rays to protect vines from major pathogens, significantly reducing the use of pesticides.
