A Rare Award celebrating Excellence
PASSED DOWN THROUGH GENERATIONS
In a world increasingly focused on sustainable values and long-term vision, family businesses stand out more than ever as models for the future. They combine craftsmanship, local heritage, lasting responsibility, and the freedom to innovate with purpose.
Created in 2020, the PFV Prize – Primum Familiae Vini is awarded every two years to a family-owned company – from any industry and any country – that exemplifies generational transmission, a pursuit of excellence, responsible innovation and a commitment to building a sustainable future.
The Prize includes a €100,000 grant to support the laureate’s development project.
Following Maison Bernard (Belgium), Europe’s oldest violin-making workshop founded in 1868; Brun de Vian-Tiran (France), a specialist in noble fibres since 1808; and UrushiTsutsumi Asakichi (Japan), master of traditional lacquer craft since 1909, the PFV Prize continues its mission: to spotlight family enterprises that maintain excellence across generations while building the future.
Each laureate embodies a powerful vision of business: human, exacting, independent, and deeply rooted in its time.
PFV: Twelve Exceptional Families

Through this Prize, they aim to support, inspire and honour other outstanding family-owned businesses around the globe – whatever their field.
