Exports on the rise for the family company in the heart of Valdobbiadene DOCG production
Col San Martino (Treviso), 7 March 2024 – Andreola, a well-known winery in the heart of the Valdobbiadene DOCG territory, with 60 of its 110 hectares, concentrates its production on the denomination which, since it was introduced in 2009, has reached the highest quality wine produced chiefly using Glera grapes. Andreola’s “heroic” wines are the result of a deep bond with the territory, of manual, craftsmanlike work, of a passion combining tradition, modernity and a strong international appeal. In fact, what characterises the Andreola wines is undoubtedly their distinct inclination towards internationality. These wines have succeeded, over time, in imposing themselves in the various world markets, not only gaining considerable acclaim, but also becoming a constant name on the prestigious wine lists of some of the best restaurants in the world.
“In recent years Andreola’s Valdobbiadene DOCG, in all its forms, has managed to become its own ambassador to the world. – says Stefano Pola, the company’s owner – As a matter of fact, exports account for 35%, with the main markets being the USA, the UK, Switzerland, Belgium, but also emerging markets such as Poland, Kenya and Singapore.” “Historically – continues Magnus Saccone, the company’s Export Manager – the Swiss and Belgian markets bring the greatest satisfaction, as a great number of consumers already have a good wine culture and a desire “to drink well”. However, generally speaking, in recent years we have noticed the positive development of the image of Italian wine which, on the whole, has been gaining a reputation, especially for certain types of wine, similar to that of French wines. The Valdobbiadene DOCG area, too, has been positively affected, an area which today, represents a true gem on the panorama of Italian “bubbles”, and more and more consumers prefer to drink wines from our area, having discovered how versatile they are.”
The Andreola winery has been carrying out numerous international initiatives and activities, motivated by the desire to promote its wines on the most important worldwide stages. “In addition to paying close attention to relationships with our partners, we are also investing heavily in participation in prestigious international fairs. In 2024 we attended both the prestigious Wine Paris fair and at the Crossways Italy 2024 event held in Poland in February; this latter is a fair devoted to sector operators but also to consumers. We were there with our most iconic wines such as the Valdobbiadene Brut ‘Dirupo’ – which has also been the leading player of a masterclass devoted to some of Andreola’s most iconic products: “Col del Forno” Valdobbiadene Rive di Refrontolo DOCG Brut, “26th Primo” Valdobbiadene Rive di Col San Martino DOCG Extra Brut, “Más de Fer” Valdobbiadene Rive di Soligo DOCG Extra Dry, ‘Nazzareno Pola – Founder’s Label – Dirupo’ Valdobbiadene DOCG Extra Dry and finally with the Bollé Rosé Extra dry. We are extremely enthusiastic about this event as recently, Poland, and particularly Warsaw, has become an important market for Italian wine, and our products are receiving significant acclaim”, continues Stefano Pola.
Therefore, 2024 promises to be another year of great expectations for this continually expanding wine reality: “We will be participating in meetings with buyers and restaurateurs in some of the major cities of the United States, for example Chicago, New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles, as well as – concludes Stefano Pola – in the most important international trade fairs such as Prowein and Vinitaly, where we will be able to continue meeting importers and customers on a face-to-face basis. Finally, in May, we are planning an event to be held in Hong Kong, a market we are keeping a close eye on with great interest.”
