Portion of Grandeur Rosé Sales to Drive Bee Conservation Efforts

Monterey, CA, May 8, 2023 – Scheid Family Wines, one of the most established and acclaimed wine producers in the Central Coast of California, has announced a partnership between their Grandeur Wines brand and the Bee Girl Organization (BGO). Reinforcing their commitment to sustainability and bee conservation, the company will donate $1 per bottle sold of Grandeur Rosé (SRP $19.99) from July to August up to $3,500, as well as supply wines for BGO’s annual Hive to Glass Fundraiser in September. In honor of World Honey Bee Day on August 17, Grandeur will be hosting an event on Instagram Live with the winemaking team alongside head Bee Girl herself, Sarah Red-Laird, Founder & Executive Director of BGO to answer questions on apiculture and offer giveaways to fans and followers.

Scheid Family Wines launched Grandeur nationally in January of 2023 as their premier organic wine brand hailing from their first organically certified vineyard, White Flower. Believing sustainable viticulture goes beyond grape growing and winemaking, the vineyard was planted thoughtfully around a majestic Blue Oak tree that houses a flourishing bee colony, as reflected by the bee logo that represents the brand. The hum from the bee colony resonates throughout the vineyard, serving as a continuous reminder of the mission of bee habitat conservation.

“The bees were on our White Flower Vineyard long before we were and it’s our responsibility to live in partnership with them and protect their environment,” says Heidi Scheid, Executive Vice President of Scheid Family Wines. “Bee Girl Organization’s mission of bee habitat conservation is an endeavor that is near and dear to our hearts. We’re so proud to support their efforts and be a part of the regenerative agriculture community.”

The Bee Girl Organization is a grassroots nonprofit centered on bee habitat conservation through research, regeneration, & education. They work shoulder-to-shoulder with ranchers, farmers, vineyard managers and winemakers, universities, government entities, policy makers, and partner nonprofits to understand and address issues in agriculture that affect bees, and to create collaborative win-win solutions for bees and producers.

“The team at BGO and I are honored to include Scheid Family Wines as a ‘Bee Friendly Vineyards’ partner,” says Red-Laird. “We work with winemakers to create refugia for bees in vineyards through growing and preserving habitat. Not only because our bee losses persist year-after-year, and they desperately need the support of ecologically healthy landscapes, but because we believe bees assist in making great wine. They increase the microbiological community within the vineyard (and on the grape skins!) and help build healthy soil through pollinating the plants that create above and below ground diversity. We’re so excited to share this wine with our community!”

The Grandeur Rosé is a California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF) wine made from hand-picked organic Petite Sirah grapes. Fermented with organic yeast in stainless steel, it offers aromas of peach, pear, and watermelon with a light-to-medium body and crisp acidity. Enjoy it with charcuterie, seafood or as an apéritif.

Grandeur wines are continuing to roll out nationally and are available at select retailers, including Whole Foods, Natural Grocers, and Total Wine & More. Grandeur wines may also be purchased online at grandeurwines.com. Follow along on Instagram @grandeurwines.
