Leading manufacturer and decorator of luxury wine glass bottles celebrates Earth Month with new Science Based Target Initiative (SBTi) Certification and action-based initiatives that fight against climate change

Saverglass logoMarch 29th – Fairfield, CA –  Saverglass, the world’s leading manufacturer and decorator of luxury and high-end glass bottles for wines and spirits, is excited to announce its return as a sustainable service sponsor for the annual Napa RISE: Resilience, Innovation, Sustainability, Empowerment Symposium, taking place in Napa Valley, California throughout April 2023.

During Earth Month, Napa RISE is hosting a unique six-event symposium around the six pillars of sustainable winegrowing leadership. The Saverglass team will be present at the following events to further discuss glass packaging and manufacturing sustainability: Energy Efficiency and Savings (April 5th), Waste Prevention & Supply Chain (April 12th), Proactive farming, Soil Health, and Biodiversity (April 13th).

“Glass is one of the most sustainable packaging materials, and the industry continues to innovate in technology and design to improve its environmental impact further,” said Philippe Barnagaud, President & General Manager of Saverglass. “Saverglass’ continued support of events like Napa RISE reflects the Group’s commitment to action-based initiatives that result in fighting against climate change in the wine industry.”

In 2022, Saverglass received validation from the Science-Based Target Initiative (SBTi) on its commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions per ton of glass produced from scopes 1 and 2. SBTi is a non-profit initiative and collaboration between Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), The United Nations Global Compact (UNCG), World Resource Institute (WRI), and World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) mobilizing companies to set science-based climate targets and boost their competitive advantage in transitioning to a low-carbon economy.

Recipient of the Ecovadis Silver Award in 2023, the only Universal Sustainability Ratings Provider, Saverglass, is in the top 25% of the most virtuous companies for sustainability. Saverglass bottles are 100% recyclable; glass is the only packaging material with no deterioration in the physic-chemical performance of the bottles produced from recycled glass. This circular material leads to an endless cycle of re-use in which neither quality nor quantity is affected. Since 2009, Saverglass has started building and sharing its sustainable commitment based on pragmatic principles through proper reporting and data. In 2022, the company published a new Corporate Social, Responsibility (CSR) Report highlighting progress around its obligations to protect the environment, develop its employees, and act for society.

In the CSR report, Saverglass also outlines its latest carbon footprint assessment (Bilan Carbone®) with Carbone 4. Saverglass implemented an approach to adjust and finalize its low-carbon roadmap. Saverglass’ objective is to reduce the emissivity of its industrial process by 50% by 2035 and to reduce scope three by 32%. Saverglass aims to continue its efforts to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
