Bonterra® Supercharges Wine Sales with Strategic EV Charging Campaign

Partnership with Volta, Inc. connects eco-conscious consumers with Bonterra’s portfolio of wines made with organic grapes.

March 22, 2023 Hopland, Calif – Bonterra Organic Estates kicked off a campaign for their namesake brand, Bonterra that supercharges the brand’s connection with values-driven consumers. Partnering with Volta Inc., a pioneer in the environmentally conscious media space, Bonterra debuted its “Cultivate the Future” campaign within Volta’s nationwide network of electric vehicle (“EV”) chargers. The prominent media screens on Volta’s EV chargers face climate-conscious consumers displaying striking videos transporting the viewer to the pristine nature at the heart of the Bonterra brand. A QR code empowers consumers to learn more about the company’s extensive commitments to Regenerative Organic Certified® agriculture, climate neutrality, B Corporation status, and TRUE Zero Waste® certification. The campaign’s concise text, “Find us Inside” urges viewers to help build a better future by seeking out Bonterra wines at the store they are about to enter. 

This campaign, developed in collaboration with creative agency Duncan Channon, introduces Bonterra as an industry leader for younger, tech-savvy, environmentally conscious wine drinkers searching for brands with values that align with their own. In addition to appearing on Volta EV out-of-home screens, the campaign will run on connected TV and social media channels. It features two eye-catching videos entitled “A Wine’s Character” and “We Know a Place” which reinforce the connection between choices made today and the long-term impact on the planet.   

“Cultivate the Future’ is Bonterra in three words,” said Hilary Butler, Bonterra Organic Estate’s Director of Marketing. “It’s both hopeful and a call to action. It cues themes of earth, agriculture, nature, and intention. It reminds our audience that the future is in all of our hands, and invites them to co-create a better one with Bonterra.”

Combining the power of market data and cutting-edge media platforms, the Bonterra team identified Volta EV charging screens in major markets. The analysis was based on location volume, proximity to key sales accounts (Kroger, Target, Sprouts, Safeway, Vons etc.), concentration of the winery’s target demographic, and the Green Score City index. The  campaign will run in select Volta Charging locations from March 13 through April 30, 2023.
