Sebastopol, CA, Nov. 8, 2022 – Pam’s UN-Oaked Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 from Sonoma-based Ron Rubin Winery is making its debut this fall. The new UN-oaked Cabernet joins existing fan favorite, Pam’s UN-Oaked Chardonnay. With an SRP of $16 SRP ($14 for the Chardonnay), Pam’s UN-oaked Cabernet immediately enters national distribution.

Pam’s UN-Oaked Cabernet Sauvignon has an unusual backstory. “Happy wife, Happy life” states the front label. Both the new Cab and the UN-Oaked Chardonnay are a tribute to Pam Rubin, Ron’s wife of 48 years, and no fan of oaky wines, red or white! The front label also features the B Corp Certified (B = Benefit for All) logo. In late August 2022, Ron Rubin became the latest winery to join the B Corp movement, which entails operating in accordance with rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency.

“An unoaked Cabernet Sauvignon is a relative rarity, a modern innovation, and there is a demand for an unadorned version of America’s favorite red grape. Indeed, this wine is in response to a distributor request for a red companion to go with Pam’s UN-Oaked Chardonnay. Retailers can now merchandise a red and a white together,” explains Ron Rubin.

Bottled at 12.5% alcohol, Pam’s UN-Oaked Cabernet Sauvignon is a wine for all seasons and occasions: approachable, fruit-forward, with a hint of sweetness. Sustainably certified fruit was purchased from family-owned vineyards in Clarksburg and Lodi, where the 2021 vintage provided remarkable quality. Deep frost in late-2020, coupled with continued drought, led to a lighter-than-usual harvest yielding fruit with concentrated flavor and bright acidity. Fermented in stainless steel tanks, Pam’s UN-Oaked Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 has vibrant fruit aromas of raspberries and fresh plums, followed by fresh notes of cranberries, blackberries, and black cherry on the palate. The wine is bottled under a Stelvin (saranex-lined) twist-off cap, to preserve flavors, aromas, and freshness.
