(November 3, 2022; Calistoga, Calif.)—Frank Family Vineyards, a part of Treasury Wine Estates (TWE) family of brands, is proud to announce it has recently enrolled in Marin Clean Energy’s (MCE) Deep Green Program. This impactful program allows the winery to source 100% renewable energy from locally produced wind and solar power.

Frank Family’s switch to renewable electricity is an important element of TWE’s commitment to sustainability. The company joined the global renewable power initiative RE100 in 2021 and has committed to source 100% renewable electricity by 2024. Frank Family is the first of TWE’s American wineries to kick off these efforts.

“Opting into MCE Deep Green was an easy choice for our winery. We’re always looking for new ways to reduce our footprint and carefully consider the impact each of our winemaking and business operations has on the land under our care and in our community. It feels great to say that our wine is now made with 100% non-polluting wind and solar power,” says Frank Family Winemaker and General Manager, Todd Graff.

Not only is Frank Family now purchasing renewable energy, but the winery is also helping to get new renewable projects onto the grid. Half of the Deep Green premium is invested back into MCE’s Local Renewable Energy & Program Development Fund, which helps to install more electric vehicle charging stations and build renewable projects like the American Canyon Solar Project. Launched in summer 2019, the American Canyon Solar Project is currently one of three MCE renewable energy projects in Napa County and its annual 3 MW output generates enough clean, locally produced electricity to power over 1,000 homes and businesses per year.

“Our winery customers, like Frank Family Vineyards, are serious about sustainability and knowledgeable about energy. They come to MCE for our 100% California renewable electricity to achieve zero emissions from facility use because it’s the right thing to do,” says MCE Senior Business Relationship Manager, Chris Kubik.

Frank Family’s commitment to MCE Deep Green is the latest in the winery’s “Green to our Roots” philosophy, which includes their being Napa Green certified since 2014. For Frank Family Vineyards, being Napa Green involves earth-to-bottle stewardship including protecting and restoring the Napa River watershed, saving energy and water, reducing waste and carbon footprint, and being conscientious employers and good neighbors to ensure the long-term health of the land, community and industry.

About Frank Family Vineyards

Frank Family Vineyards was founded in 1992. Through tireless work, focus and engagement with trade and consumers alike, founder Rich Frank, former President of Disney Studios, along with his wife Leslie, a former Emmy-award winning broadcast news journalist, gradually built the winery over the years, making it one of today’s most successful California wineries. Winemaker and General Manager Todd Graff has been crafting Frank Family’s wines since 2003. First constructed as the Historic Larkmead Winery in 1884, the stone building on Frank Family’s property is the third oldest in the Napa Valley and appears on the National Register of Historical Places. Today, Frank Family Vineyards sources from 380 acres of estate vineyards in the Napa Valley. Frank Family’s Carneros Chardonnay ($40), Carneros Pinot Noir ($40), Napa Valley Zinfandel ($45) and Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon ($60) are distributed nationally. In 2021, Frank Family was purchased by Treasury Wine Estates. Rich, Leslie, Todd and the rest of the Frank Family team remain involved in all of the day-to-day winery activities.
