$2.5 Million Collections Include One of the Largest Offerings Ever of Burgundy’s Famed Domaine Armand Rousseau

September 29th – (NAPA, Calif)—WineBid, the largest and longest-running online wine auction in the world, will present two of the largest single cellar collections in its 25-year history. Each cellar is valued at more than US $1.25 million, and each was amassed in Europe and cellared in professional storage facilities.

Coming to auction on Sunday, October 2nd is a 700+ bottle collection of Domaine Armand Rousseau, the 100-year-old Burgundy producer whose bottlings are among the most coveted and collectible wines in the world. This rare selection comes from the private cellar of a European collector who has accumulated a remarkable cache of wines from Burgundy’s finest estates.

The extraordinary Armand Rousseau collection is featured in WineBid’s France Direct program, where the wines are thoroughly inspected and stored in Beaune and are then offered in WineBid’s global online auction from there. Additionally, as part of its “Direct Release” program, the wines in the Armand Rousseau collection can be picked up in France or shipped directly from France to other parts of the EU, UK, or Asia. This program is primarily designed for collectors in the UK, EU, Hong Kong, Japan, and other Asian countries who want to receive their wines more quickly than having them aggregated and then forwarded from WineBid’s Napa facility.

PROMINENT COLLECTORS SELECT WINEBID FOR GLOBAL REACH

The second collection, currently available for immediate purchase in WineBid’s Buy Now section, was accumulated by a prominent French collector over many years and stored in a temperature and humidity-controlled Swiss vault. The 1,000+ bottle collection includes First Growth Bordeaux, Chateau d’Yquem, and Grand Cru Burgundy as well as highly collectible Rhone wines and Champagne presented in banded cases, large format bottles, and single bottles. This collection has already been carefully transported, inspected, and photographed at WineBid’s Napa Valley facility.

“These kinds of single cellar wine collections are even rarer than the spectacular wines they feature, and we are extremely proud to be offering them on behalf of the two parties who painstakingly put them together,” said Russ Mann, CEO of WineBid. “Collectors like these recognize WineBid as the best resource to reach a global audience of the next generation of wine collectors and investors.”

WineBid conducts weekly online auctions that include between 6,000 and 10,000 lots each. Auctions run from Sunday evening to Sunday evening and include the most collectible and investment-grade wines available as well as affordable rarities. WineBid has attracted over 140,000 registered bidders worldwide. Its global team of professional wine inspectors and account managers allows it to work closely with consignors across the world and bring collections to auction quickly.

WineBid CEO Russ Mann is available for interviews and comment on the collections and the current wine auction market by contacting Tom Wark.
