HEALDSBURG, CALIFORNIA, August 9, 2022 – Bernie Orsi, Owner of Orsi Family Vineyards (https://www.orsifamilyvineyards.com/) is thrilled to announce Orsi Family Vineyards as a winner in the 2022 USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice travel award contest for Best New Winery in America. “After opening the doors of our first dedicated tasting room and winery in Healdsburg only one year ago, we couldn’t be prouder of this accolade,” Orsi says. We have a tremendous team in place from winemaking to hospitality and their passion and dedication to their craft are evident every time you open a bottle of our wine or visit our tasting room.”

While the family label was created ten years ago, this is their first foray into a dedicated tasting room and winery. Initially, Orsi believed, “the key to starting a winery is to never make more wine than you can drink!” It is in this spirit that production is limited to the fruit on hand and, in most years, only produce a few barrels of each wine. “The varietals we offer have been chosen for their connection to our family origins and the connection of our estate to that of Italy’s similar growing climates and elevations.  Rather than a large production of a few wines, we prefer to offer small lots of a breadth of Italian varietals.” Notably, the 2018 Schioppettino was awarded Double Gold and Best of Class in the 2022 North Coast Wine Challenge and the 2017 Nebbiolo was recently featured as the Press Democrat’s Wine of the Week earlier this month. Appropriately, their tagline reads “Italian Roots in Sonoma County Soil”.

ABOUT ORSI FAMILY VINEYARDS

Located just two minutes from the square in downtown Healdsburg and surrounded by 70 acres of estate vineyard, Orsi Family Vineyards is a boutique, family-owned and operated winery offering eleven estate-grown, limited production Italian varietals. From rare Italian varietals such as Biancolella, Schioppettino and Negroamaro to more traditional Italian wines like Sangiovese, Montepulciano and Primitivo.

Orsi began by planting Sangiovese and Montepulciano 25 years ago, followed in subsequent years with nine additional Italian varietals: Biancolella, Fiano, Schioppettino, Negroamaro, Aglianico, Primitivo, Sagrantino, Barbera and Nebbiolo.

In addition to the Italian varietals grown on the Orsi home ranch in the hills above Dry Creek Valley, they have been growing grapes in Sonoma and Mendocino counties for over 30 years. With vineyards planted on ten ranches in four appellations: Russian River Valley, Dry Creek Valley, Alexander Valley, and Mendocino, other varietals planted include Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Cabernet Sauvignon – all certified sustainable and all sold to prominent local vintners for many years.

The tasting room is open Thursday-Monday,10:30a-4:30p. Reservations and walk-ins are welcome. Orsi is an ideal vineyard destination venue, providing a wide range of gorgeous locations for events of every size. There is ample off-street parking and is just a half-mile walk or bike ride from downtown Healdsburg.
