Check Value in the US on Premise Continues to Outperform 2021

August 8th – The US On Premise continues to stabilize and follow similar sales trends to those seen in 2021, resulting in Total US remaining slightly positive (+1%) versus last year. Check value continues to outperform 2021 (+7%), with traffic down -6%. Of the key states, New York (+4%), Illinois (+4%) and California (+2%) continue to outperform 2021 velocity, whilst Texas (-6%) and Florida (-8%) remain slightly behind.

Total U.S.

  • Following trends of +6% to July 16, the latest week has been slightly positive (+1%), with all key states aside from Florida flat or positive.
  • The week to July 23 saw ticket count remain flat, with check value up +1% versus the previous week
  • Trends in the previous week were driven largely by an increase in traffic (+5%), with check value also slightly positive (+1%).

Florida

  • Sales velocity is now -8% year-over-year (comparing the same week one year prior)
  • Sales velocity is now -1% vs July 16, 2022

Illinois

  • Sales velocity is now +4% year-over-year (comparing the same week one year prior)
  • Sales velocity is now +0% vs July 16, 2022

California

  • Sales velocity is now +2% year-over-year (comparing the same week one year prior)
  • Sales velocity is now +3% vs July 16, 2022

New York

  • Sales velocity is now +4% year-over-year (comparing the same week one year prior)
  • Sales velocity is now +0% vs July 16, 2022

Texas

  • Sales velocity is now -6% year-over-year (comparing the same week one year prior)
  • Sales velocity is now +0% vs July 16, 2022
