Saverglass Releases Progress in Reducing Its Carbon Footprint in the Wine & Spirits Industry

The Group Delivers Sustainability Commitment with New 2021-2022 Corporate Social Responsibility Report

Details of its progress are released in the “Saverglass Corporate Social Responsibility Report.” The report discloses Saverglass’ sustainable approach to glassmaking, manufacturing, and decoration, prioritizing carbon neutrality, commitment to innovation, ensuring the health and safety of its personnel in the workplace, and implementing skill development initiatives worldwide.

We have taken concrete steps that will help us continue to be a force of positive impact to the people we serve, including our customers, employees, suppliers, and communities,” said Régis Maillet, Director of Marketing and Communications of Saverglass. “Guided by our core values, we remain steadfast in our commitment to advance our sustainability vision of reducing emissivity by 2035 and carbon neutrality by 2050.”

Sustainability progress in the 2021-2022 CSR report highlights:

  • Saverglass objective is to produce its bottles sustainably by limiting the resources consumed and the waste generated. In addition to using cullet, a recycled material, at Saverglass, the Group strives to optimize how raw materials are used in manufacturing and decorating its bottles. Between 2015 and 2021, the percentage of cullet incorporated into Saverglass products rose by 9%, and the teams are working to obtain premium quality glass while honoring the Group’s commitment to a 9% increase in the amount of cullet used in colored glass products by 2025 (compared to 2020).
  • The Group is on track to reduce emissions of its manufacturing processes by 45% before 2035 and by 36% across our entire value chain (Scopes 1, 2, and 3). Ultimately, achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.
  • Nearly 300 products and 400 new decorative concepts are created by the Saverglass Group each year. Of which 78% of Saverglass’ decorative concepts are made with organic ink, 100% of organic decorative concepts are recyclable, and 30% of  Research and Sustainable Development Department (also known as R&D) projects in 2021 involved a limited environmental impact.
  • The share of its ‘eco-design’ products within the Saverglass collection of bottles has increased by more than 3 points in turnover and quantity in one year, reaching 20% and 27% respectively vs. total, while maintaining its characteristics related to product differentiation.
  • Moreover, in 2022, Saverglass received the Silver Award from Ecovadis, the only Universal Sustainability Ratings Provider, placing the Group in the top 25% of the most virtuous companies for sustainability.
