Merryvale Vineyards expands estate holdings of mountain vineyards

(St. Helena, Napa Valley, California, Monday August 1, 2022) — Merryvale Vineyards’ Proprietor René Schlatter today announces the acquisition of a 4.5-acre vineyard on Mount Veeder in Napa Valley. With this purchase, Merryvale Vineyards increases its estate mountain vineyards to 42 acres spanning two unique Napa Valley American Viticultural Areas (AVAs).

At the helm of Merryvale Vineyards since 1996, Proprietor René Schlatter notes, “With this latest acquisition, we continue with our commitment to a long-term estate focus for the brand and our wines”, he continued, “This stunning mountain vineyard fits perfectly with our estate viti-vini philosophy of 25 years, namely, to grow and craft wines with power and finesse, with a sense of place.”

Today’s acquisition is located west of Oakville, in the Mt Veeder AVA, sitting between 900 and 1,200 feet in elevation. This makes the second vineyard acquisition in the Mt Veeder AVA, following the 2021 family acquisition of a 13-acre vineyard which sits just below the peak on Mt Veeder at an impressive 2,500 feet in elevation. These two Mt Veeder vineyards join the historic Profile Vineyard, a 25-acre Napa Green Certified hillside vineyard, planted in 1997 on the eastern side of the St. Helena AVA, to round out the Schlatter family vineyard holdings.
